Picked this kit up today along with a box of Scions, and quite happy with how this conversion worked out :) The wheels are from a Tamiya 88mm German Flak gun, just the right size to go on the Taurox.

Excellent Work!

Is it the 1:35 scale 88mm flak 36/37?

What size in mm are the wheels?

It kind of looks like a British quad Tractor:

A MILLION times better than the original!!!

Kudo's on the quick, efficient, and easy-on-the-eyes conversion.

I like it! :)

Could we please have some more details of the model you took the wheels from?

It looks like it might be that model.

I no longer hate the model's drive train. However, the side mounted weapons still make absolutely no sense.

Think a half-track would have looked best. ;)

Awesome stuff, how wide are the areas were the tracks go as I'm planning to do something similar?

Nice! But I'm not sure I like the "fenders on top of my fenders" look.

I prefer a more orky version, that I found on another website. (It's not mine!)

The double fender well thing is kinda weird and they're a little large, but it is definitely an improvement.

I like the look except for the rounded fender from the original kit; I would remove them and extend the original fender to it covers the wheels correctly. having rounded fenders on a angular truck doesn't look right.

Thanks for all the feedback guys :)
The wheels are from the Tamiya 88mm Flak36/37, they're 28mm across, and the tires are rubber
I know the round wheel wells don't exactly match the square aesthetic of the rest of the vehicle, but I had to use the wheel well and undercarriage bits to attach the wheels to the underside of the Taurox.

Here's what it looks like completely assembled

With the autocannons mounted on the wheel wells, the aquilas on the fronts of the wheel wells, and the stowage added to the back, the round wheel wells work better. I think paint will make it work somewhat too :)

And I built this with the tracks and some plasticard :)

Ah dammit, now I want one to to fix... Ah well, I'll put it on my *****-slap-GW's-vehicle-designer-&-fix-it-list. List already includes:
-Storm Raven (fixed it, sleeping better because of it)
-Storm Talon (Ayy that model makes me sad. So close yet so far...)
-Centurions (Gah! Disgusting helmets and useless powerfists)
-Dreadknight (Never gonna happen, I just seriously dislike that silly silly model)
-Taurox (again a design that's so close yet so far off it's laughable.)

The conversion's looking good with the detailing in place. In the3/4 picture it's looking spot on, although in other perspectives it's looking slightly out of scale with those huge wheels, but it passable and not disturbing. And as said before, a million times better than the original. The detailing you added really helps to flesh it out.
I'm actually thinking that 1/48 scale wheels might suit it better, and perhaps in an 8x8 configuration with redesigned wheel wells.

Hah! And love the little mini-Rhino :D

Really what they should be doing is having Phil Stutcinskas (Who made the Spartan Assault Tank) and Mark Bedford (Who made the Fellblade) consulting on all the Imperial vehicle designs coming out of the GW Design Studio.

@Inquisitor Alex: Man, you've easily improved the look of the Taurox in both conversions, I actually really like that plasticard tank! And with the wheels, the decision to put the Autocannons up front is perfect. Very well done!

Thanks guys, glad you like the changes :)
Meph - I did some adjusting to a Stormraven too - extended the body by 50mm and added detail to the inside of the extension too. Now to decide which Space Marine army it goes with, and getting around to painting it.

Here's the scratchbuild tank with the outside completed

Just a quick question, when you said the wheels are 28mm across is that for each wheel or the pair since they're mounted tandem? I want to do something like yours but have some different wheels and am wondering if they would work as well before buying a Taurox.

28mm across the face of the wheel. Each tire is 7mm thick, the 2 together are 15mm with the small gap in between.

Excellent conversion. I agree that the fender-in-a-fender thing is odd, but the conversion options are limited with the existing parts, unless you really want to go crazy with an xacto knife, plasticard, and green stuff. I think I have that Tamiya gun model NIB. I might be willing to trade it (or bitz from it) to anyone looking to replicate this build in exchange for a pair of Taurox treads. I want to build an Ork halftrack trukk conversion.

Cool. I've ordered some Kromlech Buggy Wheels that are 27mm across so I think they'll work. Thanks!
