I don't know if has managed to get their hands on the new dex yet (i actually have been living under an xbox shaped rock for the past few months)
With the release of the new Tyranids, i am going to get on the bug ridden bandwagon and finally get that swarming army i've been planning for some years now.
The basis of the army will be "NO GUNS"
The basic army layout will be
Grunts: Ripper swarms and hormagaunts by the bucket load
Tunnelers: Raveners and a Trygon
Big monsters: Carnifex, and a scythed heirodule
Flying: a winged hive tyrant and some gargoyle broods.
Everything in this army can be armed with Scythes alone (apart from the odd flaming attack or psychic attack) with no "gun" upgrades at all... apart from the gargoyles (as far as i know)
Can anyone tell me if there is an option to re-arm gargoyles with scythes instead of their usual gun loadout in the new codex.
(modelling wise its going to be a piece of cake)
If there isn't an option in the codex, does anyone know if there will be a good way to represent them ruleswise . possibly from fast moving hormagaunts or something.

There is no option for Gargoyles.
Maybe Flying Ripper Swarms can fill that spot for you?

I don't see the need to be sarcastic; it's not like he asked for the special rules and point costs for all options a 'Fex could take.
He asked a 'yes or no' question; and the answer was 'no, they cannot'.
@ TSINI:
If rumors are true, maybe you can take winged Warriors with talons as your fast choices?

Lol, cheers for the reply guys.
Jwolf, flying ripper swarms would fill the slashy feel of scythed gargoyles, as would winged warriors paladin. I guess it depends on the stats of each respectively, I will hopefully get my hands on the new codex soon and check them out. Cheers for the heads up anyways, thats all I was after :)

I wasn't t being sarcastic in the slightest. I was being serious.
Rules forums is for questions about rules in game, like, is it illegal for me to take 2 scything talons on a gargoyle unit because I don't understand the unit, and not questions about options in a codex that hasn't been released to the general public yet.
Hey, can anyone scan and email me the Tyranid Codex please? I have questions about some unit rules, but it would be easier if I could just see it for myself. Thanks!
Now THAT, is sarcasm... :D

my apologies buffo for the bad thread placement. you're right it could have gone in the general discussion zone.
I don't normally ask or info on stuff that isnt out yet, or indeed stuff that is released, but as i said, i have been living under a rock for the past few months and I wasnt even sure if it was in the stores yet and whether people had gotten a hold of it.

If you want to avoid guns, you should take a Mawloc instead of the Trygon, because the Trygon always comes with a gun, while the Mawloc does not.

Technically speaking it's not a gun, he's zapping people with the bioelectricity his body generates.

hehe cheers drakken, but I do prefer the trygon face to the mawloc (I'm not that big a predator fan :))
Also Madjob is correct, I'm not worried about some ranged weapons - psychic attacks, electro fields, or the Scythed Hierodule's Acid spray. i'm just trying to avoid the idea of a "gun" that fires projectiles to get a kind of "final wave" feeling, just teeth and claws to mince up everything ready to be broken down by the rippers and malanthropes.
Also I'm aware this has wandered off from a rules thread, so if a moderator is able to move this into general discussion that would be cool.
