There are also mugs and a badge. Don't know if they're limited to the open day. I've emailed them to ask. I'll probably hear back in a month or two...

They're probably limited to the open day, yes. Like the "I am Alpharius" t-shirts that were limited to the first Horus Heresy Weekender, and a selection before that at Games Day UK 2012.

From FW:
"The T-shirts and mugs that appear on the Forge World Open Day events page, are not available to order. They are only available to those people who attend the Forge World Open Day. They can be bought on the day, but cannot be reserved."

It seems silly to me that GW doesn't have things like T-Shirts, mouse pads, widgets and miscellaneous stuff with their wonderful art on them for sale. Anyone know why this is the sad truth?

They used to do so, but apparently they weren't profitable.

I want him as a replacement for my Captain in artificer armour with the Primarch's Wrath.

I like the Mechanicum and Iron Hand's ones. Would prefer it if they had some raised details on the shoulders though, but that's probably my love of cyber clothes kicking in XD

It's probably because they had to outsource it all, and they aren't keen on things that they don't have complete control over.

I could imagine an on-demand screen printing service could be done, certainly the profits would not be great, but, you wouldn't end up with too much spare stock, and design costs would be minimal, take some gw art/graphic slap it on a black t-shirt and bingo!

I have small batches of 25 t-shirts made all the time, total cost is about $7 a shirt. If GW were making them in the hundreds or thousands they could probably get them for around $3-5 a shirt. Doesn't make sense that they wouldn't bother trying...
Like a lot of things at GW that don't get done, there's just no interest in it for the staff there. For anything to get worked on it seems there has to be a team member that makes it a priority of interest, which is why we don't see some armies get real updates for years or decades.

I don't know how they were sold in any other location than the UK.
But it seems the t-shirts and other stuff were phased out as GW went for more smaller brick and motar stores. The consequence of this is that there was less shelving, and it is shelves that are more often than not used to display GW goodies. A rack of t-shirts then hanging up would take up the same wall space of at least 10s of boxes (or multitudes of blisters) so the space wasn't efficiently used.
Or at least that is my interpritation of their reasoning.
