What kind of lists will be allowed in the 40k doubles tourney? Escalation, data slates, imperial knights, new imperial guard codex that is coming out etc...?

No escalation, no dataslates (as of today). Knights and IG I expect to be fine; god knows what I will have to do if IG gave D shooting...

Ok, here are several quick questions.

1. No data slates or Stronghold. How about Forge World? It was allowed last year and I don't think it caused much of a stir other than some counts as sabre defense platforms. For an "Unlimited" tournament, there seems to be a lot of limitations. Just my two cents, but if your going to have an "Unlimited" event, you may as well go no holds barred Ard Boyz style. Mainly in the hopes that the complete lack of balance might find find a balance all it's own.

2. How will the scoring be done this year? Still just adding up points from all missions, or going by win loss points?

3. Any hints on the type of missions that will be run? Will they be book missions or custom? Should we prepare for potential 11 objective missions again? Or will it be bay area open style?

4. Oh... and am I reading this right, Escalation is allowed? I only saw Stronghold and dataslates as being disallowed.

1. The big problem with Forgeworld isn't the units, it's the time it takes to explain the units and the time it takes even experts to resolve thud gun batteries - time is the issue, not balance.
2. Battlepoints are in effect
3. No 11 objective missions. Not BAO style. Limitations on book missions, with generally slight variations for the GTs and possibly fully custom missions for teams.
4. No, Escalation is not allowed. Sorry for that omission.

Codex Inquisition taken as a primary can take an Inquisitorial Detachment attached to it right? Scence they are an inquisitorial detachment and not technically allies?

Wait... So its an unlimited tournament, with restrictions? If your going to allow seerstar and beast pack and all of that nonsense, allow the strength D. And it realy doesnt take long at all to explain D weapons or super heavies to someone.
This is a superheavy, meaning that it ignores all damage results 1-5, and on a 6 it takes d3 + 1 additional hullpoints. It can also shoot all its weapons at different targets.
D weapon means against infintry on a 2-5 it takes d3+1 wounds. on a 6 it takes d6+6 wounds.
Agaisnt tanks on a 1 it suffers a pen. 2-5 it suffers d3+1 hulpoints. on a 6 it suffers d6+6 hullpoints.

And that literally explains everything they need to know. In less than 2 minutes. Not much of a time waster to me

Fair enough. Unlimited is now everything goes. Any GW rules, Forgeworld, Escalation - Everything. I'll amend the rules as posted.

Doubles are 1000 point armies, often with crazy goals that require cooperation among team members. Expect missions that require movement, sacrifice, and coordinated action. Armies that are the "best" are not necessarily going to be the best choices for Doubles. I would especially avoid a Deathstar unit for Doubles - at least one mission will make Deathstars terrible choices.

Are the 2 armies considered battle brothers for all purposes?

Absolutely not. We do allow Tyranids to have allies for the team tournament, but we don't have Draigo leading a unit of them. :)

Jon:

I'm interested in the limited 1500 pt tourney and would like to know if all of the Space Marine supplements are all allowed. I'd like to use the Sentinels of Terra supplement.

You mention that "paper codices" are the standard. Is that to mean that we must have the hardbound version of the codex on-hand or can we just have the digital version on our tablet device (as long as it's a printed codex). Thanks in advance.

Sentinels of Terra is available as a physical book, and is allowed. You can have the digital copy, that's fine.

Ok well what if my partner and my army are already battle bros? Can then ICs join?
Example if he brought space marines and i brough blood angels, could my captain join his tac squad?

Also for the 2K there is still no updated details on the webpage, i would recommend getting on that XD

What is the model policy? 70% of the model has to be gw bits etc....? For example would a dreamforge leviathan be an exceptable model for an imperial knight?

Answers:

Knights are allowed in 1500.
Battle Brothers can join allied units.
Models need to be appropriately sized as compared to the GW model. No percentage of GW is required; if you want to use a dreamforge model and it looks great and is not significantly smaller or larger than the GW model, you're good to go.

The main page doesn't seem to be updated to allow "anything goes" in the unlimited tournament bracket.

That aside, what's TGC's ruling on a tau commander joining a non-ovesa riptide? Allowed?

Whats the schedule for doubles going to be? We'll be playing the Narrative Friday night which starts at 5pm, but would like to play in the doubles as well if they don't overlap.

Jwolf

Doubles will overlap with Narrative on Friday night by a bit, but Narrative works well with late joins, so no sweat.

Hi,

I have a couple of questions about the Doubles Tourney.

1) Will the individual lists allow Allies?
2) What time does the event start? I have seen some replies suggesting Friday. Is that correct?

I'd like to vote a big BOO for no Forgeworld in the doubles tourney. My teammate and I finally just finished painting our squigoths for our "one squig, two sqig red squig blue squig" army. Maybe next year.

The link to the 2000 point Unlimited Rules pack instead takes you to the page for the narrative campaign. Where can the actual rules for the Unlimited be found?

Jwolf

2000 Point unlimited. 2000 Point armies. 7th Edition rules. Play to win.

We will be using 7th edition in all cases for 40K this year.

Only Codex materials allowed in 1500 points; no Forgeworld.

Question regarding an IC joining a troop. Specifically aun va joining firewarriors. Is it a legit IC troop joining? Being told I may not be able to join him to the firewarriors due tp the two guards that come with him.just trying to figure out what army ill be taking.

Is the 2k unlimited just that? So could I, for example, run a Dreadmob with Stompa or even an Unbound army? Also, Morkanaut as a stand-in for a Meka Dread, acceptable?

Absolutely not. We do allow Tyranids to have allies for the team tournament, but we don't have Draigo leading a unit of them. :)

So with 7th Ed out what are the Team event players Alliance options? 7th Ed matrix or....?

Jwolf

7th Edition Rules for Team. Still no Draigo in a unit of Nids. :)

No fortifications listed in the 7th edition rulebook...does this mean no fortifications in the 1500, period?

Are lists still due on the 10th? It seems like with the release of 7th folks will need a little more time to get a list ready for the new ruleset.
Also is there a penalty for not turning a list on time, if still due by the 10th?

Will the Morkanaut be allowed in the Team tournament?

glorywarrior

So, for the doubles tourney, it has the Death Star Eliminator or whatever it's called. It centers a S D weapon over a unit with more than 500 points in that one unit.

If I have a unit in a transport, let's say a terminator squad w/ a captain in a Stormraven, does that count as one unit, or does it not get targeted because the unit inside is less than 500 points?

I submitted my list but haven't heard back from anyone. When will we know we are officially signed up for the 1500 and our list is okay? If I have to paint different models, i'd like to get a head start.

Is there a list somewhere that we can confirm we are signed up and have our list approved?

So in question to what was vaguely mentioned in http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2014/06/texas-games-con-2014-2-weeks-to-go.html whats going to be affecting Inquistion. Is the Inquistion forces just not allowed now? Be good to know after spending a month building a Inq/Militarum Tempestus 1000 pts army for the double tournament.

Concerning Doubles Tournaments. What are the changes mentioned in "http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2014/06/texas-games-con-2014-2-weeks-to-go.html" that are going to affecting Inquistion based armies. Are they simply no longer be allowed? No servo skulls? No Special Characters?

Jwolf
06-19-2014, 09:28 PM
If your army is a real inquisition / astra army, no change. If you're running a solo inquisitor stuck into another army, that might not be a good decision.
