So, I know that if you take an army from the Farsight Enclaves that you can take the Command Team (those 8 special characters) along with Farsight. Something that I don't quite know and need clarification on is if I can take one of those 8 ICs as the HQ choice for a Farsight Enclaves army?

No. sadly they are just his Body Guard squad.

But they are ICs, have their own point costs, are considered HQs for FoC...I'm going to send an email to the GW errata guys to get a clear ruling response. Otherwise I might just do a homebrew response.

While odd, I do not think you can take one as your HQ. They replace the bodyguard option after you select Farsight on page 50.

Katharon, are you asking whether you're allowed to take one or more of the Eight without taking Farsight? If that's your question, the answer is no. Yes, they're ICs, and yes, they're HQ units, but neither of those things change the fact that they have a special rule that only allows them to be selected at all if Farsight is in the army.

Technically only one of the Eight would be rules legal as a Farsight Enclave HQ selection apart from Farsight, and that would be Commander Brightsword, since he is the only one of the 7 bodyguards that adheres to the signature system restriction. So could you pick a Commander and loadout his equipment the same as Commander Brightsword and use him as your enclave HQ, calling him Brightsword yes but he takes a HQ slot that way, and I suspect he was not the member of the Eight you wanted to use.
The Eight normally don't count against the HQ FoC any 1-7 of them in addition to Farsight(the only one that occupies the HQ slot) replace the standard 7 man Crisis Bodyguard option, with the restriction that their Wargear options are set.

No, you have to pay the farsight tax to be able to field them, given that they bring Tau Codex signature systems with them that you would otherwise be denied from taking.
With that said you CAN field Commander Brightsword, given that he's built using gear from the Enclaves signature systems, and you can build a standard Broadside up to match Ob'lotai 9-0's load out, and a standard Riptide up to match O'Vesa's load out.

Sadly with Ob'lotai you cannot build him to include Independent Character, same for O'vesa so unlike Brightsword not the same in all respects.

True. That's why I said you can build a standard to match the load-out, as in their equipment, rather than saying you can field them.

Kind of makes me sad...there is so much variety within the 8 that to not be able to cherry pick one or two seems sad to me. :/

You do realize they are able to ally with Tau Codex as Battle Brothers.
Only two of the 7 bodyguards you cant completely create a Tau Codex equivalent of without paying the Farsight tax is the Riptide and Broadside ICs Hardly all that restrictive

Also can't duplicate O'vesa because Riptides don't normally get access to signature systems for the Earth Caste Pilot Array

I over looked the fact they had IC. my bad. but it does say Farsight needs to be your warlord and you may take his team instead of a Bodyguard squad.
Do you have the iBook or eBook for farsight?
