Gents,
Got an apoc game coming up in Jan/Feb and want another 1 maybe 2 superheavy IG tanks.
Already got 2 Baneblades so I've got that base covered nicely.
Been considering a Stormlord for my infantry to ride around in and shoot out of or a Shadowsword for tank hunting duty.
Those of you who have played with these variants or heck, any of the others, feel free to chime in please.
Thanks.

if they are going to be enemy titans, the shadowsword is a must. but theres no fun as a stormlord lighting up a greentide of orcs and then dumping 20 ogryns out of and open topped vehicle. Its the only time my guard have taken back to the green meanys at there own game. If you dont have the ogryn then a mob of concripts and a priest + commisar to lead. Hate everyone, fearless and lots of bodies, they cant all miss.

if you need armour gone, shadowsword is the way to go. capin' enemy titans is so much fun.
on the other hand, depending on your group's rulings on transports, you could put 20 broadsides in the stormlord. abusive? yes. ridiculous? definitely. awesome? hell yeah! and isn't that what apocalypse is all about? ;)
also, how much anti-armour/infantry fire do you have in the rest of your army? i'd look at what units you have (i find physically sorting them into groups helps, but this depends on how much you have), what they shoot at, and then decide if you need a super-heavy killer or a horde muncher.

StormLord's Ultra-Cheese:
Take SIX Heavy Weapons Squads (of three Teams) all armed with Heavy Bolters. (They can be any Weapon type) That's 18 Heavy Bolters and their 18 Loaders.
Put them all in the StormLord.
DO NOT move the StormLord. 'All Power to the Weapons!' and mow down your opponents. Fire the other Hull Mounted Weaponry.
And then....
Unleash FIFTY FOUR Heavy Bolter shots!!!!
WHAT!?
The rules say that up to 20 can fire from the StormLord's firing platform. We're only firing 18 Heavy Bolters. We COULD of course let two more Guardsmen fire their LasGuns just to rub salt into the wound.

Edited for even more hilarity.

Great Knarlocs are infantry.
(For what it's worth, you can put them into Devilfish, too)

That would just make me smile to do...
Just remember it is always the mighty laspistol that the Marine termie dies to.
The stormlord is great for defensive operations... The Sword is only good against enemy superheavies....
With your 2 Baneblades I don't think you need the stormlord as much (you can kill infantry easily)
I would use the Sword unless your opponents don't have any superheavies.

Im pretty sure you can fit 1 MC=10 infantry anyways.4 Carnifexes in a Stormlord!!!
OTOH, Does the OP have a model for Creed?

BY group's rulings, are you talking about allowing multiple units to embark on a transport with huge capacity? I was wondering about this myself, and thus far, the only way I can see this working is if an entire Platoon uses it, or if a conscript unit uses it.

he talks about mixing races.
apoc regularly allows multiple units into superheavy transports.
I'd go for the stormlord.
The two comandmends of imperial heavy weaponry:
1. never put a weapon that can be carried by a titan on a baneblade (unless its a HMB, see below)
2. never put a Hurrican Mega Bolter on anything but a Stormlord.
tbh I'd fill the stormlord with 20 primaris psykers just for the heck of rolling 40d6 attacks :) THATS what I call psyker battle group :P

I already have a shadow sword and its served me well so I'd recommend it since as other people said you have a lot of fire power with 2 bane blades.

Who says you hve to shoot titan killing weapons at just titans??
I used one to take out a Command squad of SM, the 5 man Termiesnext to them and the building they hid in, with a Shadowsword....oh the glee when that happened

Mmm... pies...
I think its pretty damn hard to underestimate the power of a Vulcan Mega Bolter + whatever the hell you decide to put in the back.

LOL, not a problem over here.
I remember an apoc game where we put some Terminators, 2 Warriors and a Zoanthrope in an LRC:D

People are STILL complaining about this:

Where three Carnifexes charged out of a Thunderhawk's Assault Ramp destroying nearly everything on that side of the table!

Well,no matter what you'll face,Sword is much better than Storm(D weapon+cheaper). Consider fielding the Iron Saint: she really worth the points and you'll have a Super Heavy Flank Marching Objectivetaker. Quite irritating;)

well really it depends on what the other armies/army is and what you may be lacking/wanting to boost in your own army

Try a Banehammer.... It stops armies dead in their tracks.... I love mine :)
