Hi all! My FLGS's Cities of Death narrative campaign is nearing the epic conclusion. As the factions close in, it has gone to brutal block-by-block fighting in the crumbling hive of Fanaris, an abandoned Imperial world infested with Tyranids and built on the ruins of an ancient Interex tech-vault.

The thing is, I've never built a Kill Team list with my Blood Angels. My Tau, yes, but give how much more expensive Blood Angels units are, I'm sure the theory is different.

What do you think?

My mate and I are planning on playing some kill team.
I am going to take BA kill team.

I can imagine it going one of two ways, either assault marines or DC kill team, that would be awesome.

My three basic thoughts are...

Sniper Scouts: I can get 10 sniper scouts and give them camo cloaks for 185. That gives me 15 extra points to play with, which I'd probably use to upgrade the sergeant.

Sternguard Veterans: They seem kind of expensive, but seem quite flexible. I could just do 8 standard sternguard veterans, or fewer with some upgrades.

Assault Marines: Whole bunch of assault marines, some upgrades - maybe a flamer and a power sword? I could also take the jump packs off and use them to get a near-free razorback with some nasty guns, like heavy flamers or heavy bolters.

Bikers: I saw a blog post once about a guy who brought bikers to a kill team game and did pretty well. I could probably squeeze 4 or 5 bikers, plus some upgrades, and maybe one of them as an attack bike, out of the points that I have available.

Death Company: But damn, they're expensive, and also I don't own any death company on foot, which makes this more of a commitment. I also worry that in kill team, the supremacy of shooting will just mean that my death company die on the way to combat.

Or, of course, some combination.

I see nothing wrong with taking a 10 man tactical squad

Plasma cannon, Plasma gun and a Power weapon Sgt.

You could give the Plasma cannon Relentless, Plasmagun, Preferred enemy OR Master Crafted and give third guy whatever.

You could also do 7 scouts and a Typhoon...

Typhoons are huge at these points level. The mobility and the range.

Both of those are good ideas...

I ran a Kill Teams tourney a month ago, had a decent turn out, it was interesting to see what people came up with. In the end a black templars tactical squad and bikers mix won it. That Hammer of Wrath at smaller points limit meant a whole lot more.

I have a trio of potential lists - what do you think?

List One: Tactical Squad

• Space Marine Sergeant w/Boltgun & Power Fist (Leader)
• Space Marine w/Flamer (Weapon Specialist - Rending)
• Space Marine w/Heavy Bolter (Indomitable Specialist - Relentless)
• Space Marine w/Boltgun (Guerilla Specialist - Stealth)
• 6 more Space Marines w/Boltguns

List Two: Scouts & Speeder

• Scout Sergeant w/Camo Cloak & Sniper Rifle (Leader)
• 7 Scouts w/Camo Cloak & Sniper Rifle (three of them are various specialists - haven't decided what yet)
• Land Speeder w/2 Heavy Flamers

List Three: Scouts & Bikers

• Scout Sergeant w/Camo Cloak & Sniper Rifle
• Scout w/Missile Launcher (Indomitable Specialist - Relentless)
• 3 Scouts w/Camo Cloak & Sniper Rifle
• Biker Sergeant (Leader)
• Biker w/Flamer (Weapon Specialist - Relentless)
• Biker w/Flamer (Dirty Fighting Specialist - Soul Blaze)

What do you think?

I still like the plasma cannon better. The AP2 is pretty powerful in KTs, it also does a number of large KT lists like orks.

I had found that the land speeders still die to S4 fire, and others (mainly marines) still bring plasma guns which are death to Land Speeders. You need to utilize that range, maybe just keep them with 2x heavy bolters, and stay at 33".

List Three: Scouts & Bikers

• Scout Sergeant w/Camo Cloak & Sniper Rifle
• Scout w/Missile Launcher (Indomitable Specialist - Relentless)
• 3 Scouts w/Camo Cloak & Sniper Rifle
• Biker Sergeant (Leader)
• Biker w/Flamer (Weapon Specialist - Relentless)
• Biker w/Flamer (Dirty Fighting Specialist - Soul Blaze)

What do you think?

I like this one, it seems well balanced.

Now, do you think that eight bodies on the table is enough? My first ever kill team games - with my Tau - I made the mistake of bringing battle suits and died, miserably outnumbered, so I'm worried.

I've not played kill team in 6th (well not using the new kill team rules) but I used to love the look on people's faces when I dropped my Baal pred with flame storm cannon and scouts or Furiso Dread and scouts on to the table in 5th!

The dread is not at OTT as it sounds due to it not being locked in combat (it always kills what it charges) it's easy to get around behind it and glance it to death with standard s4 shooting. The Pred is daft powerful though in heavy cover missions like citys of death.
