This ones a game changer for nids. The Endless swarm special rule and the scoring gargoyles (unlocked by flyrant) Should really have been in the codex but oh well. Nids are back and coming for you.

New Dataslate (II) overview (I think you will like this one).

As was promised this is what the dataslate has to offer. Like last time I am going to hold off any judgment until I have some time to think it over. But it looks like there is some neat stuff.

We have some new fluff advancing the story with a handful ofpages in all. High points are Blood Angles show up.

We got the 5 new promised formations
1. Incubator Node
1 Tervigon
3 Termagant broods
Special rule: Tervigons must reroll 1’s when spawning

2. Synaptic Swarm
1 Tyranid Prime
3 Warrior Broods
Special rule All units in formation have 18’ synape range

3. Sky blight Swarm

1 Hive Tyrant (must take wings)
1 Crone
2 Harpies
3 Gargoyle broods
Special rule All Gargoyles have “Objective secured” which means they can control objectives even if it is being held by an scoring enemy unit. Also they get “Sky Swarm” If a Gargoyle unit is wiped out it returns to play in reserves on the roll of a +4

4. Living artillery node
1 Exocrine
3 biovores
1 Warror brood (must take 1 basic biocannon)
Special Rule: Organic Bombardment with these units range weapons are pinning and any range weapon (from the formation) fired from with in 12 inches of the warriors can reroll scatter dice for barrage or blast weapons

5. Endless swarm
3 Hgaunt broods
2 Tgant broods
1 Warrior brood
Special rule: Endless Swarm If a HGaunt or Tgant unit is wiped out it returns to play in reserves on the roll of a +4

Also 2 new missions one is a pitch battle that has reinforcements showing up for each side mid way through and the other is night fight “find the run away with” a relic game. So 40K football sortof

As far as art work goes it looks like nothing really new.

Not just scoring Gargoyles but their special rule says they control the objective even if an enemy scoring unit is in range. And they work like an Endless Swarm. That's pretty damn good. Not to mention the Synapse Swarm where all the units get a free upgrade to 18" Synapse range.

I can see so e of these formations getting a lot of play.

yeah they are very much "backbones" to an army, pick one or two and you'll still have points left for other units.

Nicest part about these dataslates is most of them you likely were already willing to take as a part of your force, which helps free up a lot of FOC slots(giving us the effective means Nids allying with Nids that really should have been part of the codex), now i'm just waiting to see if we get a Tyrgon, Mawloc, Ravener, and Ripper tunneling swarm and some monstrous creature formations, and something with the Swarmlord and/or Old One Eye in it.

On an unrelated note with Endless Swarm you finally have units likely to take advantage of a Trygon Tunnel at least.

I imagine living artillery node is going to be the easiest to use. Not forced to use too many units, already fairly commonly used units, and a really good bonus.

Another broken rule. Like most supplements. They don't fit in the game where it is already to much imbalanced in this most ever imbalanced "modern" version. Some rules added are very nice, but the dexes are sooo imbalanced. to OP, to underpar ect...

So no one else has a problem with the the gargoyles controlling objectives no matter what? Don't really mind them being scoring, but that seems a bit much. I've seen some people say that it will help balance against Eldar jetbikes, but what about all the armies that aren't Eldar jetbikes? I can't wait to play against 7 FMC and their little friends that hide until the last turn, that sounds like an exciting game.

pfft if your wasting the gargs hiding them then you are doing it wrong, those little *******s come back when they are gone, shove them down peoples throats right next to the FMC's.

and honestly all you need to do is the same thing you always did, kill the synapse. All this does is change the paradigm of why. and give nids some teeth they sorely lacked.

Is it our fault GW took our drop pods away and want us to fast attack with FMC? No.

I know I don't like having to foot slog everything in my army, so FMC are welcome.

I tend not to play more than 3 in friendly games though. Maybe they really want to sell Aegis Defence lines? or their other FW stuff that shoots flyers?

They might be trying to switch the meta to flamers and skyfire?! But knowing GW, they aren't really doing anything but selling kits.

When does the 3rd part of these dataslates come out?

No idea, we don't even have a teaser, probably in about a month. BUT it wouldn't be the first time GW "forgot" about articles and things like this, WD used to be notorious for it 10 years ago.

I lost trak of the number of "tale of x gamers" that started and never went anywhere
