This came up in a game and just wanted to clear it up quick.

If a Necron Lord with a Veil of Darkness with a squad of Necron Warriors are held in reserves, can they arrive via deepstrike as if the lord used the Veil of Darkness?

No.

Veil of Darkness does not give the Lord nor any unit he joins the Deepstrike rule. It just allows them to zip around the board by using the effects of Deepstrike during the battle.

Well I know that it is not "deep strike" per say but the Lord can use the Veil of Darkness instead of moving normally. So can I use the Veil of Darkness instead of moving in normally from reserves.

You have to be on the board in order to move normally. If you're in reserves, all you can do is enter reserves, in order to actually get onto the board. You can't make an additional movement on top of moving on to the board, thus no Veil.

The Veil of Darkness allows the lord and any necron unit he joins to basically teleport from one spot on the table to any other spot using the deep strike method. He can even teleport out of HtH. However, the Veil does not actually give the Lord the USR deep strike. Thus, he cannot deep strike in from reserve.

Perhaps this will change when they redo the codex as the reserves rules have changed dramatically in 5th edition. Certainly, it could be used as a house rule between friends if discussed and agreed upon before the game. But as of now per RAW no can do.
