It's that time of year ladies and gentlemen!

Lounge Recruitment Drive Time

That means it's time to hone your persuasive voice, grab your blackjack, and pull out the trawling net.

You know the drill. The folks down here in the Oubliette are the community pillars and there is no one better able to evangelize for the Lounge than you all. In fact a great many of our current regulars came to us directly because of past recruitment drives.

So talk us up, lure in the unwary, and tie up and drag your friends into our beloved community.

Have fun and try to get at least one good friend/acquaintance/arch-enemy to join up in the next couple of weeks.

That said - if you fail, you could always take the "evil" approach and somehow find another hapless soul addicted to some *other* forum (EGADS!!!) and deny them the ability to use a keyboard... :)

Seeing as how BOLS is a nice place and I really enjoys it, if I were to provide a sort of 'recruitment prize', how would you prefer it done? Thinking of a Forgeworld kit (but not until June, as that's bonus month!)

Thinking it might be betterer to procure and ship/have shipped to you, to ship to eventual weiner of the draw.

I had actually been thinking about running an idea by you with setting up a painting comp and stumping up the prize myself and letting the bolsters vote on the winner. A kind of themed painting comp with a poll for votes.

What do you think ?

State of the Union Time:

Just so everyone knows - we have been making great progress this last year and 2014 looks like it could be "The Lounge Year"

If current trend lines continue and we have a good solid set of our friends and fellow hobbyists join us we will probably move into the #2 spot for Wargaming forum before the year is out.

We have also outgrown our current hosting solution and our IT folks are shopping for a MUCH MORE POTENT server for the BoLS family. The days of lag and slow response at peak traffic times are going to be going away in the near future.

Every little bit helps, so we would ask everyone to evangelize, evangelize, evangelize.

Talking to other folks in the industry, it looks like most are seeing a diversification in readers and purchasing habits, with more game systems gaining player/reader interest, and hobby stuff above all helping to glue strong communities together. Sites that cater narrowly to only a single game-system are looking at a stormy future. BoLS has been making strides towards diversification over the last year and are very happy with where we sit with current news and games coverage right now. It's all looking good - and we have big plans for more upgrades and rollouts this year!
