That truly is terrible. In fact, it's that bad it raises some interesting linguistic and metaphysical questions. Namely, when is a joke so bad that it stops being a joke? Surely there must be a stage when something becomes so utterly devoid of humour in either intent or execution that is not in fact a joke, but something else entirely.

Just as I was about to make a smart arsed comment about Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr, Russel Brand, The Mighty Boosh et al.

But never mind that! I've just seen Robocop.

It's actually alright. Original is such a genuine classic it was never going to really tickle it's position, but it's enjoyable enough. Though I think it's 12A rating meant cuts were made, and may have included a scene or two which were central to the plot. Looking forward to the directors cut on home media!

Jimmy Carr, The Mighty Boosh

heathen

Mr Mystery
02-09-2014, 12:58 PM
They're neither funny not original.

Jimmy Carr simply rifled the bins at Bob Monkhouse's funeral, and added in some truly obvious 'observation' jokes, and presented them with all the charm of a 6th Form bully picking on a Year 7.

Mighty Boosh have simply stolen the scraps from Vic and Bobs table, but not without deeply awkward 'pause for applause' moments.

So nyer! :p

Actually 18-24 makes up 12% of the cinemagoing audience in the US and ticket sale are generally split fairly evenly between the genders. 12-17 makes up another 10% while 25-39 makes up 24% on it's own. Hollywood makes films for young white men because most of the people in charge are (young) white men making films they would want to see.

I have a particular loathing for these monster films which basically consist of a bunch of young women in bikinis being mostly killed with extremely objectifying and sexualising cinematography.

Hmmm the film is ironic and cheesy in equal measure. Poking fun at what's gone before and not taking itself seriously at all. The Zombie Beavers made me laugh muchly.

I have to agree with the new Jack Ryan film. When they replaced Ford with Affleck and changed the time line completely around and contrary to the books it was bad enough but this is a step beyond.
I think the reason I like (Fords) Ryan's character so much is because he isn't a Kung ho in your face action hero.

It's not so much what they are wearing but how they are filmed wearing it. The men will be standing around in their shorts and whatnot and the camera is just there, but with the woman the camera work focuses on them, pans up and down their body and in general just does the whole Male Gaze thing and it's just so blargh. Then add in the being killed (ultimate depowerment) while being so scantily clad and the whole thing comes off as very fetishistic and exploitative.

Yes the fact they are all IMMENSELY stupid doesn't help. The men are no better usually but of course guess who usually takes action and starts hitting things with things in an attempt to defend the group... God I hate this genre so much.

Tried to resolve the dispute online and the website refused to recognise the transaction ID that it had created  so I couldn't actually fix it. Phoned them up, and got stuck in five minutes of automated hell as it explained to me how to resolve the dispute online without giving me the chance to speak to a real person. So this Neknominations thing, which I think involves idiots publically demonstrating their complete lack of common sense and occasionally dying? Much as I loathe it, I reckon we could take inspiration for a little voluntary eugenic experiment.

Essentially come up with an internet social networking 'game' which only the truly cretinous would ever take part in, and have it involve some kind of horrific groinal injury. Perhaps 'Bits in a blender', where your chums nominate a time period in which you must place your reproductive organs into an active blender.

You've better eyes than me if you can see a thong in there.

Yeah if you look carefully you can make out a thin white line along the waistline along with a patch of triangle just between the buttcheeks.

The problem with a lot of those manmade fabrics for sportswear and even in things such as leggings, the more streched it gets the more transparent the materials becomes.

Most sportspeople who need streamlining suits will suffer from this problem, especially those wearing whites and yellows, just look at cyclists, it's really noticable how transparent some of those suits become.

The reason being in most cases is the sportsperson needs to wear a size smaller then they would normally wear for everday clothing, for compression and streamlining purposes, and thus it shows....

PS you can see she's also wearing a crop sports bra too, notice the whitish colour near her mid/high shoulders...

I found that a purple basecoat, gold drybrush, then a glaze of green ink makes a nice iridescent "beetle-shell" effect. It is slightly labor-intensive though.*

*By which I mean I could probably breed beetles to grow to Termagant size, tweak them to spawn in the colors I plan to use for my army, and then taxidermy and base them faster than I could paint enough Termagants this way for 2000 points.

In all honesty, I don't know what to do about the referendum. There should be proper, simple literature from both sides to make an informed decision, not taking key issues and going " LOOK LOOK WHAT WE CAN HAVE WITHOUT THE UK" or "ITS ALL GOING TO GO TO **** IN A HANGBASKET IF YOU DON'T STAY". I'm kind of in the camp with Kevin Bridges, let's give it a go and if we mess up we have a 4 year return clause like faulty goods. =)

You’re definitely not alone in that trust me. I was on the fence for a long time. My problem is the Better Together campaign is using scare tactics to convince us to stay (which personally isn’t working for me) and the Yes campaign are too as you said “look what we can have” and we need to hear a genuine debate between the two. I liked what Kevin Bridges was saying and wish that could be the case. There is a tumblr page that you can ask questions about the referendum here. I don’t know how helpful it’ll be but it could be worth a shot.

Nice to know that other people aren’t happy with EITHER side of the Independence argument.

I’m still sitting on the fence, and with less than a year to go until the vote, I have no ****ing idea what I’m going to do. The more I read the White Paper the more I just want to give up

Mr Mystery
02-11-2014, 07:05 AM
My Bro seems to feel it's going to be a yes vote, as apparently the 'No' campaign have been caught out telling porkies and generally scaremongering so much, the 'yes' vote is starting to appeal to typical Scottish bloodymindedness not to do what it's perceived England is telling us to.

However, Brother Mystery is a signed up yes campaigner, so pinch of salt.

For me? DFKDFC. I'd become Scottish, but I live in England, so little real change, although I could become a tax exile type thing in certain conditions. Which is nice.

I don't know where the media reports of 'yes momentum' are coming from, the polls don't really show it (http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2014/02/07/that-surge-in-favour-of-scottish-independence/). I also expect most undecided votes will err on the side of caution and vote No as that is what usually happens.

But seriously in the land of the free you are fined for crossing the road in the wrong place, for your own safety. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26073797)
Surely this is more of a curtail of your liberties than owning a gun/rifle/self proppeled artillery unit.

It also shows how strong teh car lobby is. Most laws are about protecting the vulnerable, and this certainly gives lip service to it, but it is infact a law so that the less vulnerable (i.e. those in steel boxes) have priority over the more vulnerable (pedestrians). It is also a perverse bit of town planning. Towns/Cities thrive on foot traffic visiting their shops, yet these pedestrains are second class citizens when it comes to getting around.

Lol, no but then that would require more flexibility than I've possessed in about 15 years :D. But yes at least I can rest it (strap it up)and it will get better instead of nasty steroid injections. Doc was surprised to hear I'd still been in the gym doing my thing despite the pain. She suggested I don't do anything too taxing to rest it. Pffttt she's confusing me with a mere mortal. But won't be riding this which is hidden away from her indoors either

Listening to Within Temptation's new Album Hydra.

Hmm I am not sure about it, it certainly continued their move away from goth-rock to more power ballads that the Unforgiving had. Their are some brilliant hooks in their, but I would rather see something more rock-esque.

Ok I have had to re-visit my opinion given that it is the only album I have been listening to for the past two days solidy. Having heard the polish version of the final track, the male vocals don't fit and yet some how I prefer that, just need to work out how to it get it...

as a result, a tattoo parlour in that area is offering discount MLP tattoos as a sign of solidarity with the kid, and has had a huge take up

Poor Kid, what is this world coming to when 11 Year olds try to commit suicide?

In some way's I can understand what he went through to a point, as I was bullied at school badly too...

But I'm glad to say I was one of the stronger ones who worked through it all...

As for the Tattoo parlour, good on them to help support this poor victim of Gender lifestyle bullying, children should be able to enjoy whatever toys they want to, infact there is a growing movement among parents here in the UK to make supermarkets stop "Labeling" toys as boys or girls on their ticket, merchendising and recepits...

Nothing wrong with that at all mate, putting the effort in to save the money and booking a nice place is great, it's all part of the game my friend and it sounds like your playing rather well :D. Your making the statement this girl means something to you and your putting in the effort to show her. If your looking to be labeled, I would say "proper gent" fits you well.

Just remember it can result in a slippery slope towards domestication ;)

Yup, my comment was just a half-serious response to Wolfies comment. There is nothing wrong with buying a woman dinner to show you care and appreciate her company. The only potential problem is if someone refuses to let their partner do the same for them, because then it becomes more about showing off and less about mutual respect and affection.
