Combiner Wars Transformers are now available in the UK at Smythes Toys, unclear if all stores or just some so don't blame me if you go to one and they aren't in stock. Also new Robots in Disguise toys are available in some places.

Rejoice, for Devastator is being released as a new Titan class set, the first after the enormous Metroplex:

Seibertron.com staff member william-james88 was able to corroborate rumours found elsewhere about an upcoming Generations Devastator - directly from the Toys'R'Us Canada computer systems! The images below show us not only that the figure is a reality, it may very well be one that will appear at retail soon (invoice dates show late December/January, but no purchases yet), and will be priced at 179.99 CAD$. Could this also be one of the big reveals at the upcoming Toy Fairs?

What is yet uncertain is what figures will combine into the big green Gestalt, how compatible they will be with current Generations Combiner Wars figures, whether IDW's Prowlestator is a possibility,and if the rumoured Titan class is actually true. Fans Can Soon Create an All New Transformers Character in “Fan Built Combiner Poll”

Pawtucket, R.I. (January 15, 2015) —TRANSFOMERS fans around the world are invited to help create a new character for the popular TRANSFORMERS brand — but not just any character. Following on the heels of the 30th anniversary “Fan Built Bot” poll, which led to the fan-assisted creation of the popular new AUTOBOT character, WINDBLADE, Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS) is launching the new “Fan Built Combiner” poll. This crowdsourcing project seeks fan input to create a new team of TRANSFORMERS robots that combine into one giant new character in celebration of the theme of the 2015 TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS line, COMBINER WARS!

Starting soon, with exact dates to be announced, the official TRANSFORMERS brand app (formerly the official TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION app) will be updated and fans will be able to log-in and answer a round of questions to help shape the identity of the new Combiner characters. In the US cartoon Fort Max is a city controlled by a robot (Cerebros) who bianary bonded with Spike who lives in his (Cerebros's) head. Since he's two guys and a transforming giant city body that's totally a combinder.
But, in the Japanese Head Masters cartoon the parts we'd call Fortress Maximus's City and Cerebros are just robot bodies, only the part we'd call Spike is an actual dude. Planet Master is just chock full of these little robots and they know there are violent big robots out there so they build sweet robot bodies for fighting other big robots. Fortress Maximus is just one guys super huge robot body that he needs another robot body to control. Like the Nemesis Dreadknight :p I'd argue that's not a combiner so much as a dressing in layers.

I would also say the story laced in the toy lines also qualify as an option, at least here in the US. The Headmasters (of which FM was a member of), were still the robot transformers in their non-humanoid state, just another humanoid was their head, much like the cartoon version. The Marvel version also was used the same.

Oddly enough, the first Headmasters could have their chest stats changed depending on who the head was, but the second generation kept the stats in parallel when a different head was attached.

That actually has happened in a few sci-fi stories. In the Emperor of Man series starting with March Upcountry the egg-carrying females were misidentified as male because they had very generously proportioned ovipositors in the same place as human males and the males were brooders just like sea horses.

That's the the thing though, Gobots were even more genderless in design than Transformers and they still avoided the male by default thing.

That would be great, but it isn't the case. They have been referred to with gendered pronouns since the beginning, so they are male. There have been ladybots since the beginning too.

Ok so they list in that interview 4 combiners, Monstructor, Devastator, Menasor, and Superion. Superion is the Airelbots, and Devastator is the Constructacons. I think that Menasor was the car one, but Monstrutor? Who's he? Oh, and today I saw the main body guy for Superion, and the 'funny' thing was Prime was right next to him listed as the main body part the Superion group. Did I miss something, or am I more out of the loop then I first thought?

Ooo, oooo, in the IDW comics Monstructor is a horrifying abomination disgusting enough to get Omega Supreme to stand up and say "Aw hells Nova Prime, I thought you were cool." He was the first attempt at making a combiner after they lost the wisdom of the ancients so he's basically a bunch of lobotomized dudes with super violent tendencies that make a giant Frankenstein other Transformers know is just anathema by proximity. In all their history of weird horrific experimentation Monstructor still stands out as a cautionary tale. It's kind of important when Megatron requests Devastator be made as to where his mind was and how dire he saw the situation surrounding his rebellion.
Seriously, IDW just does the best stuff with their license books.

A (sadly uncredited) gem that I saw c&p'd on Seibertron - stats concerning the amount of female toys released in Transformers. Short version is, the upcoming female combiner team will make up 7% of all female released in the brand.


Got bored and decided to do female transformers toy maths. These are near estimates, sure I've missed one or two.

Excluding things like miniconskreons and non transformings, and including exclusives there have been toys of 41 female characters, 19 of which have been name reuses in different variations.

There have been 80 [female] toys produced in the last 30 years. 25 were original moulds. 37 were repaints of existing female moulds. 17 were gender-swapped toys which were originally male. 1 was a half male/half female original mould.
31% of toys were made specifically to be a female character.
When it's released the Victorion team will represent 7% of all female toys released in the last 3 decades.

There are several thousand different TF toys, including repaints and reuses.

It's not that they are specific to the build they show. Each combiner is compatible with all the others. You collect the ones you want and build the robot you want. Dragstrip will be the odd man out for the moment, but if you want him as an arm for Sky Lynx, then do it, leave out one of those guys. I think, in time, they're going to offer so many, you will have all your classic builds available across multiple waves of the figures.

Ah, but by the fluff, they specific to specific combiner! And with Dragstrip in Superion, that means that one of the Airiebots is missing, it also means that in order to have the complete Superion and Menasor at the same thing I have to buy two of the same models, and correct that buying the 'proper' model for Superion if and when it comes out. =P

In fact, there are five different Aerialbot limbs on the market now; Air Raid, Firefly (Fireflight, renamed due to legal issues), Skydive and the newcomer Alpha Bravo in Waves 1 and 2 of the normal release, and Quickslinger (Slingshot) as an online-only release.

As for Ultra Prime/Optimus Maximus, the comic didn't have Wheeljack - the fifth member was Sunstreaker. There's only so much funny ears a single combiner can handle!

I had an aftermarket Devastator that was 50% larger I got at Dart Drug, so talk about mishmashed....(this was the 80's mind you, so no body cared, and mine were different colors, not just green). One friend was pretty loaded, so his parents bought him the full correct ones for each one as they came out, which was cool, but we did mix and match to play with them.

Prime is really good. The new Robots in Disguise has its moments but it was all over the place with quality. The finale was really disappointing. It's got Windblade in it now which is good. Or it woudl be if the two main male writers knew what to do with female characters.

Hopefully the main body of Victorian? is a better transform then Motormaster, hes just abit to loosey goosey when transformed as Menasor. Superior is clearly superior, better locking of the parts that aren't joints and better movement at the joints. Plus is it me or is she modeled in heels?

Yep these are the 2016 Titan Wars figures, Leader class figures (ver bigguns) are all headmasters, Voyager (bigguns) possibly too.

Any Combiner Wars Voyager class figure (Motor Master, Silverbolt, Optimus Prime, Cyclonus, Pyra Magna (not yet released) and Hot Spot) can be the torso for any Combiner, yup. Any of the Deluxe class figures that form the limbs can be plugged in as an arm or leg on any of the Voyagers. The exception is Titan-class Devastator who is immense and can only be formed by the Constructicons which isn't a problem because they all come in the same box.

Yep these are the 2016 Titan Wars figures, Leader class figures (ver bigguns) are all headmasters, Voyager (bigguns) possibly too.

I'm late to this thread as a Transformers fan, but I will dip in now. For those of you only peripherally familiar with the Transformers series, look up Diaclone. This has become my major fixation in my collection. I'll snap up what I can to keep up with the series' that I collect, but if a Diaclone deco comes out it becomes a priority. So much so that I've taken up customizing solely to get some Diaclone paint schemes in my collection.

Also that Fort Max has me giddy, far giddier than I've been about ANY GW related anything with the exception of Classichammer.
