Apparently "Imperial Guard" getting a name change to Astra Militarum is only the beginning.

Goodbye "Space Marines"

I prefer GW's made up Latin to what they have now. I can't wait until they re-brand Space Marines as Adeptus Astartes... From what our source told us Space Marines will get a name change in the future.

Mehh, changing the name of Codex: Space Marines to Codex: Adeptus Astartes isn't really a renaming. Makes a hell of a lot more sense than making up a stupid name for IG. Still very sceptical about all this.

Ditto.

Though given their seeming push to tighter, less generic IP it's not completely outside the bonds of possibility!

As much as I love the silliness of the game, Space Marines really is kind of a dorky name when you think about it, but the problem with Adeptus Astartes is its not easy to pronounce, little things like that can put off new players

The problem with astartes is that "astartes" is the wrong word, oh sorry I forgot it's high gothic *not* latin.

You mean they're switching from Low Gothic to High Gothic?

I like when you see Space Marine used in the Horus Heresy books, they rarely seem to refer to themselves as Space Marines, its more like a nickname humans give them but when the less capable authors don't realise that, it makes me cringe
