@Vorlon: Ask and you shall receive (sorta...) I went down in to the shed with the camera but it doesnt like close ups even with the macro setting. (cheap piece of crap) After 12 attempts at a close up these are the 4 best:

I've been working camo on my Guard, but not nearly as detailed or extensive as that. Excellent work on that. How long does it take to detail the pattern per guy?

I like these, nice and gritty looking whilst not being too complex or over done. Good work... look forward to seeing more

Looking good!

Can't wait to see more, especially your tanks and walkers.

Here's a quick camera trick you might not know.

If you have a digital camera, turn the setting to Manual, then press your 'macro' button - it's the flower looking icon. Next, set your ISO to the lowest setting you can.

That should help you take good closeups.
But to get real good closeups, you need an SLR camera with a dedicated macro lens.

Nice looking squad you've got there, what's next?

@lobster-overlord: The camo pattern itself takes about 10min its little 'jellybean' shapes in ' Astronomican Grey' followed by the same in "Black Grey" by vallejo . The time consuming part is painting the whole mini 'Adeptus Battle Grey' then highlighting with 'Codex Grey'

@theHman: Thanks for the camera tips. Hopefully ill figure it out today.

@Cryl, Hairy Piggy, Vorlon, Aldramelech: Thanks for the comments. It helps motivate me to do more.

@ColCorbane: Thankyou. Next up is some veterans w/ shotguns i converted. Im entering them in the conversion contest at the local GW Store. I should have them done this afternoon.

do you have the spray gun? I'm doing my RG with badab black wash over Adept BG and it is time consuming to paint them all Adept BG, then 3 coats of BB wash, i started using the Spray gun and did like 60 models in an hour basing in Adept BG...worth while if you're doing any number...next up i have to try washing with the spray gun...

@therealjohnny5: No I dont own a spraygun. I think ill get one though and maybe use "Adeptus Battle Grey' As my under coat. You are right it is time consuming (...read soul destroying:o) painting on the Battle grey.

It's taking me about the same amount of time. I paint them Warzone Jungle Green, drybrush Goblin Green, the use black triangles with Goblin Green and Bilious Green dots.

Here is my conversion entry:
http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac64/GPrimeFTW/18dec016-1.jpghttp://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac64/GPrimeFTW/18dec014-1.jpghttp://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac64/GPrimeFTW/18dec017-1.jpg

The shotguns are from old plastic orlocks and goliaths from Necromunda. the democharge is a tankbusta bomb from the ork boyz boxset. the heads and backpacks come from the heavy weapons sprue.

They're looking good. Like the camo, works well without working too well. And I'd been mulling over shot guns for my vets for a while. Looks like an answer there.

More camera camera: it looks like you're focussing on the middle of the picture not the focal point. If it lets you, you should aim at the focal point and get the focus on that (usally by half depressing the trigger), then move to get the framing. I've become a fan of using the delayed shot, so you can set the focus, then get the framing right and you don't get any jarring from the click. Good in lower light and with a tripod (or as I often use, a box or something lying around). The pic in my thread are just using a little point and shoot with macro, just let it auto focus and light. Adequate for the internet. Will sometimes photoshop the colour balance since mine and blues in some lights - can recomend doing this if you're happy with everything but the colour.

Oh DAMN!!! That has got to be one of the most well executed squads Ive ever seen. I think we need an step by step on the construction and painting (especially the bases ^_^). Great job all around. May I ask how long you've been painting/modelling?

Wow I love those veterans! Very cool that you made them all look uniform with the sunglasses and the backpacks and yet still stick out from the rest of your infantry. I especially like the shotguns. I always thought that the ones in the FW pack looked puny so I used Necromunda ones too! Again very cool and keep it up.

@gorepants: Thankyou the shot guns are nice.I got a new batch coming in from ebay im going to see if i can cast them or something as there pretty expensive these days.
Its a cheap camera i think ill upgrade to something better soon.

@Vorlon: The bases are just off cuts i had lying around as well as spare parts off the sprues. The bricks are just made from sprue cut to the right length and glued together. As for painting and modeling this is my first ever army. Ive just been lurking on other forum sites for years and storing cool ideas.

@Duke thank you for your comment

@KINGS: Thanks for the heads up about the FW shotguns. I was going to buy some scince id run out of Necromunda ones. Instead im going to try to cast some.

@person person: thankyou i think it helps make them seem elite. These guys are my drop troopers. They will be flying in on a Valk or vendetta( havent decided yet)

Next up: Infantry squad 2. Heres the Sarg i finished today:
