Starting this thread as a compilation of my various Nid posts (excluding the spore mine tutorial)

Was throwing this slowly together this week, a home made meiotic spore, going to try runnning a pair of them and 2 groups of spore mines in me FA slots to really cause some solid disruption to enemy lines.

Just need to do the details of the sac (going to replicate the tervigon sac, but with spore mine looks) and one more exhaust vent with some slight nid ribbing under the tail.

Anyone have other suggestions?

Suggestion: if you have the Green Stuff Industries' Tentacle Maker, use that to make the downtrailing long tentacles, and use the smooth tentacles for the shorter forward-facing "facial" tentacles, to separate them a bit.

Hmm, 'nid ribbing' eh? Crossing over into the realm of Slaanesh I think. Should I have chance in my busy schedule of building Tyranid Fortifications I may well try and make some of these too. I'll go the cheap route with Milliput though. If I do get round to it I'll let you know, thanks for the inspiration thus far.

Threw some paint on this guy yesterday, I've always loved lictors, to me they pretty much embody what the swarm should be, the terror in the night. Its just such a shame that their rules for the last two editions haven't properly represented what their supposed to be. But I think I'm going to be running a pair of them any way this edition, 1) to push back enemy scouts and infiltrators and 2) for disruption backfield when I need it.

Really liking how the scheme comes up when its finished. Might need to go back of the blue parts though and throw another wash on them to help the definition.

Been working on a Malanthrope conversion.

so I was scrawlin through the net the other day and I found this page.

http://bloodofkittens.com/wargaminghub/2013/01/08/tyranid-malanthrope-on-a-budget-by-white-metal-games/

now this is interesting to me, as I've always quite liked malanthropes, but I've never gotten around to buying some from FW (was planing too buy a pair if the new Anphelion project gave them good rules.)

but after seeing that I though......Well I do have two Hive Tyrant torsos and heads in my bits box, and two spare red terrors (long long story where GW managed to muck up an order 3 times)

Long ago I had attempted to use one of those torsos and red terror bodies to make a snake tyrant where I removed the head of the red terror and used the whole thing as the lower half of the tyrant.

But that project fell by the wayside with the advent of the 5th ed book (seriously what an atrocity) and now I want to use the pieces I had set aside for that (and some other spares) and make myself a pair of malanthropes.

This was the first mock up,

http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss2/daboarder/20140216_151121_zpse29b675f.jpghttp://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss2/daboarder/20140216_151129_zps7484f3eb.jpg

Then I took the head spike off to help distinguish it from the tyrant model and started the feeder tendrils, also re-tilted the head.

Almost done, only need to do a series of lashwhips on the front where the tyrants chest spikes used to be, and some piping on the torso.

Very happy with how this guy has turned out, I will be doing this again thats for sure.

Current progress on my malathrope

Not sure about the yellow for the sacs, I'm not sure if it would be better with the dark blue like the tendrils. Thoughts?

So I don't have very many tyranid conversions to be honest, certainly not to the level that my chaos has. I've always felt that the aesthetic behind the army was so strong that random conversions tend to look very jaring with the core range. However I've been sufficiently impressed by the quality of my malanthrope conversion that I've decided to do another.

In the interests of not giving GW money for this atrocity (apart from my crone and tyrant guard) I have decided to convert up my own variant of biovores.
The core of the models are taken from some warriors I have previously used to attempt to make some tyrant guard stand ins (harking back to the original version of them)

Well with having the spare parts from my tyrant guard I decided to put the bodies to good use and convert them into warrior based biovores. the gun I wanted to look short and stuby like a petard/grenade launcher.

This is what I currently mocked-up. The next idea is to add an ammo sac, I'm not sure if it would be better placed on the warriors back and connected by an ammo feed (hanging from under some of the armour) or under the gun itself where the connections for the shock cannon normally attach. Thoughts?

Started work on my second malanthrope. Because If GW really expects my money after what they've done to my CSM's and Nids.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

This one stands a little more upright than the first and is therefore slightly taller
