HI all,
I had this come up last night. I was running my IG for the first time using the new codex, so I wasn't used to the rules. I was told and allowed to use FRFSRF orders on my Stormtroopers. They are not standard Lasguns, but the Hot Shot Lasguns, so I didn't think it would work with them. My opponent, as well as the guard player at the next table both insisted that it did since they were a form of Lasguns. While I didn't argue, is that the general consensus?

GW FAQ says no, you can't do it.

I think the general consensus is the same as the FAQ (http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m470041a_FAQ_ImperialGuard_2009.pdf), which is that FRFSRF does not work on hot shot lasguns.
I have an unofficial canon of construction for GW rules that if something has an exact string match, it refers only to that exact string match, and not to any other term that includes the exact string match but includes other characters as well. Not stated anywhere but it seems to accurately predict GW's thinking.

That's what I was thinking Lasgun = Lasgun, Lasgun != Hot Shot Lasgun
Thanks for pointing to the FAQ. I'd read it before, but I suppose I glossed over that.
Appreciate the responses.

My brilliant deductive skills tell me that you know computer programming...
But yeah, the FAQ and the general consensus says no.

Which is just too bad really, as it might almost make them worth playing if it did work.
