Huzzah! (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/marvels-agent-carter-hayley-atwell-671839)

The drama, inspired by a Captain America one-shot on the Iron Man 3 DVD, has tapped Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas as showrunners, ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee announced Friday.
Agent Carter takes place a year after the events of Captain America: The First Avenger and follows Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) girlfriend Agent Carter (portrayed by Hayley Atwell) as she builds her career as a secret agent while the hero is frozen in ice.
It's only going into production as of now, it hasn't officially been picked up but hopefully that is just a formality.

The two writers are also women so that's great too. So excited, I'll ve really upset if it doesn't get picked up. I can't imagine that though honestly I mean the Agent Carter one shot was immensely popular.

Yeah I wish WB would get its **** together and just make a WW film already. But no we have to wait until Shazam and a bunch of other white male dicks get their turn first. Until then Marvel will continue to run rings around them which is even more sad when you consider the Black Widow film is still not officially confirmed and we will have had a dozen male led films to a single female led film by the time it comes out though admittedly with an awful lot of excellent female characters in them.
Mr Mystery
05-09-2014, 08:53 AM
I rather fear that WW suffers from 'not that interesting a character'-itis, which is a common ailment amongst DC Heroes.
Take The Flash. Wow. You can run really fast. How are you going to beat this bad guy? OH YOU RAN REALLY FAST!
Meh.
Still, me finding DC dull as dish water is precisely no reason not to give WW her own film. At least it would add some gender variety to the MOR snoozefest that is DC.
eldargal
05-09-2014, 08:57 AM
The thing is she is only dull if you write her badly, I mean as the comic someone posted recently illustrates she is no different to Thor in many ways and he is onto his third film because they got good writers and good actors.
Edit: Oh, the two showrunners for Agent Carter are women and they are getting Dominic Cooper back to play Stark Snr so that is just awesome.

I liked Sharon Carter aka Agent 13, looking forward to seeing where they take her in future films. I really hope she doesn't become Steve Rogers love interest though because that just turns her into the newest Carter model for Rogers which is quite offensive. 'Sorry your old flame is like 90 with dementia, here is her grand niece who will do just as well amirite? Have fun filling her with your seed'.

Sharon Carter, alias Agent 13, is a fictional character, a secret agent in the Marvel Comics universe. She is an ex-field agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. under Nick Fury and occasionally the girlfriend of Captain America.

Agents of Shield has certainly picked up since Bill Paxton has come on board.
This new series could be quite fun if it runs in to the 1950s with McCarthyism and the crazy Capt America story line.
Later on they are rolling out Daredevil, Alias, Powerman and Ironfist. I'd like the Powerman and Ironfist series to be set in the 1970s :D Yay for Netflix!

You can always spot a series where the cast had a great time filming, even if the series itself turns out a bit rubbish.

Is this a show that I can watch without having watched another show first? I'm trying to get caught up on Agents of SHIELD, I'm up to episode 17 of Season 1 (hey, I just started midway through last week). I'm hoping to get to that "sweet spot" where I can watch the movies and shows all together to get the full story properly.

Awesome, thanks! I'll get caught up on AoS and then hop into AC.
eldargal
01-08-2015, 02:04 AM
AC is set decades before AoS so you don't really need to watch AoS to appreciate Agent Carter. Wouldn't hurt of course, there are references to AC in AoS in season two any way.
Mr Mystery
01-08-2015, 07:09 AM
AC got a very positive write-up on Den of Geek.
Tried to watch it yesterday on the ABC website, but stupid laptop wouldn't properly click the buttons. Shall give it another bash tonight!
Erik Setzer
01-08-2015, 09:03 AM
I'll give it a look. I'm enjoying AoS so far, finally hit the episode that acts as a crossover with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I have to say, that episode felt a little... sloppy. If I watched it right after CA:TWS, with that movie fresh in my mind, I could probably keep up with what's going on, but it feels like if you don't watch the movie, you're going to be confused, and you'll also have part of the movie spoiled for you. While I like that they're doing the cross-media crossovers like they do with comics, it does carry that risk with it.
AC being in a different time should help avoid that issue, at least.
Charistoph
01-08-2015, 11:05 AM
Hulu has AoS, albeit on a limited basis. If you can keep up with the schedule, it's great. I dropped behind an episode or three before the Winter Soldier section, and never caught up. You can kind of catch up when they do the second showing at that point, but I missed that one by a week or two.
I would be surprised if AC didn't show up on Hulu at that point. They usually stay up for four weeks after each showing before dropping, so you have to stay on up of it.
Edit: Confirmed that the first two episodes of AC are showing on Hulu Plus at this time.

Whelp I watched the first episode today.
First impressions are that it's going to be one of the finest storytelling experiences within the MCU if they continue as they have started.
Agent Carter herself gives me a strong Carmen Sandiego vibe but I'm not sure if it's even meant to do this.
The retro advanced tech us a nice touch as was the introduction part of the episode.
The writing seems crisper than Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. And the female characters are stronger here because of this.

VPNs do work, sorta, but...
1) Streaming services are starting to block accounts that use VPNs because of the upcoming TPP (That thing TERRIFIES me
2) The government is constantly trying to do everything it can to make VPNs illegal and/or crack down on the use of online streaming
