Hi all,
Today Forge World posted these,
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/K/Kharybdis.pdf
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/R/Rvarna15-1-2014.pdf
http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/I/Irillyth-2.pdf
Now its important that these are the new updated rules for the Rvarna and new 40k approved rules for the Assault claw ( good news for chaos marines).
Also These are New rules for Irillyth, changed again since his relatively recent rules update.
Im not sure what changed with the battle suit, i know irllyth has been changed and obviously the assault claw is new.

Kharybdis is pretty awesome.
And can carry 20 models....and is an Assault Vehicle.....
AND IT CAN BURNINATE STUFF IT LANDS NEAR!
The R'Varna? I do believe the AP of it's weapon has dropped significantly. Which is nice.

I think they changed the ap on the suit. Although dropping 6 large blast templates on centurians or 4 on bikes can be rather mean.

Ah yes quick Google search shows it was once ap3 (rather evil) now ap 4 (more balanced - yet still evil in its own evil way) :)

Thought so. Ap 3 was a bit much for that. I bet those White Scar Complaints had paid off.

Just a side note if you always wanted to run 8 riptides. I would say here you go. Now however those bikes have a chance of using their grav guns. At ap 3 you had 6 riptides dropping 6 Poe plates killing out a lot of armies out there.

It is expensive but it has plenty of HP , 5 to be exact and 1st turn drop will keep it alive long enough to dispatch your berserkers + kharn :D

Think of it as a flying, burninating Landraider!

an AV12 land raider. It actually seems a bit more like the silly looking Ram flyer thing that I can't seem to remember the name of at the moment.
This thing is going to be brutal to plan for - however how would it work if you went 1st - since you're not allowed to assault 1st turn if you go first?

Sorry to burst your bubble. You still can't assault the turn you arrive from DS. You can assault the turn after however.
Porbably the reason it is listed as an Assault Vehicle is so that they wouldn't give it open topped instead

Should be a giggle anyways. Spesh against Hordes. Drop it slap bang in the middle (or wherever it will fit) and watch it magically avoid contact with the enemy. THEN BURNINATE THEM IN THE FACE AND SHOOT THEM WITH INDEPENDANTLY FIRING MISSLE THINGS!
And poop out a heavily armed squad of turbo-nutters to add to the general painc....a heavily armed squad of turbo nutters your opponent is going to have to deal with pretty dashed quickly (oh hi Plague Marines!)
Nice updates. A lot more balanced. The R'varna seems a lot better, with only AP4 on its blasts. Still a bit over the top, with 6 hits at S8 against vehicles... add 2 Markerlights and they Ignore Cover, so you rip apart vehicles like it's going out of business, with more range and mobility than a set of Broadsides. However, the B'sides put out really good AA firepower and can buy Target Lock so they fire independently, so it's no longer a no-brainer to take the big suit.
The Kharybis also looks solid and gives Chaos something it really lacked... alternate deployment types. While expensive, being able to drop a large load of Plague Marines down in the enemy's face is pretty dangerous to a lot of opponents, and it gives a use for the larger squad sizes available to CSM. I like both of the new sheets, they seem better balanced and more playable than their previous versions.

With the nerf to AP and the new restrictions on what upgrades it can take I don't see any reason to take R'Varna over a normal riptide. Not for the points cost.

The only reason for R'varna is different FOC and target saturation, with a farsight list you can have 3 of each riptide and a full army of crisis suits, there isn't a lot that will stand up to that.

I like the new incarnation of Illyrith! cool, if not incredibly powerful incarnation with the background of his Aspect - although I kinda feel Eldar are the army that least wants Night Fighting to be in effect turn 1, with Tau having Night Vision on most relevant stuff and Imperials having Searchlights to illuminate key targets in a pinch...

The R'Varna is WAY better against vehicles, as the nerf to AP didn't matter. It's also significantly better against horde units. And it has T7, though it's slower to make up for that. So it clearly has several advantages, though it costs more and it's not better against 2+/3+ units. It's no longer better against everything, but it's still better in many cases. Overall it depends on what the rest of the list brings, I think.

Indeed.
After hundreds of billions of years of existence, Eldar have still not developed either night-vision goggles or big flashlights.
Infuriating as a player.

That's not the case at all. They decline night vision equipment out of reverence for Khaine's lesser-known little brother, Khoon the Groping-Handed god.

How does the Lucious Drop-pod assault rules work? I can't remember and I don't have my reference materials handy while they're in storage.

doesn´t "work" per se - you can´t assault on the turn you arrive with that either, would have to keep the dread embarked and leave next turn

I have to agree with D6Damager here. The nerf bat fell a bit harder than it needed to upon the R'Varna. Although, I would stipulate that if the R'Varna could have access to the same weaponry as the standard Riptide, I'd he a lot happier. The joy of firing two heavy heavy burst cannons or ion accelerators cannot be underestimated...

Tau players complaining about the nerf bat.
At least the moaning about rvarna being OP should stop so you can use him with less folk whining.
Shame the drop pod is only HH, my soul drinkers were close to re birth maybe.

It's my Heavy Burst Cannon Riptide i'm working on, i figure when you Nova Reactor the main weapon he has enough power to power up the second cannon which is what provides the extra shots.

Only difference being ofc that there's no rule back up on it, but I look at it as the second gun spinning up when the Nova reactor is engaged, which is what provides the extra shots.

Dunno if any of you guys have seen a Kharybdis in the flesh, but I can tell you its VERY big and VERY impressive.
Another member at the North West Gaming Centre had one a week ago.
He'd just built it and brought it in to see.

I've played the R'Varna several times and at 260 pts, it was far from op. You have to remember the points cost it has. If you are not good on templates, it's a worthless unit. Now, the nerf went to far and made it useless for the points cost unless you play vs swarms.

Monstrous creatures and vehicles virtually auto-died vs. the R'varna. Now at least MCs get their armor saves, but any vehicle short of a Land Raider is dead. And it still puts lots of wounds on infantry.
