Army Selection:
Each player is to select a force of up to 1850pts which is to be selected from the most recently published version of your chosen Codex, Codex Supplement, Imperial Armour Book or White Dwarf Official Update. This force is to be chosen from a single Force Organisation Chart. All official expansions including Stronghold Assault and Escalation will be used including online updates and data slates produced before 01/03/2014
The following restrictions apply when selecting your army:
• Units and army lists from Imperial Armour books are allowed. Units chosen from an Imperial Armour book must have the “Warhammer 40,000 Approved” stamp or be chosen from the ForgeWorld Escalation update. ForgeWorld experimental rules will not be allowed
• The army must adhere to the standard Force Organisation Chart (FOC) found in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, with the addition of a lords of war option from the expansion rulebook or the ForgeWorld Update or as in the case of specialist lists from the Imperial Armour books, its relevant entry
• Allied detachments and Inquisitor detachments are permitted at this event.
For entries that specify the use of a Codex in addition to the rules laid out in an Imperial Armour book, you must have both books to make use of the rules.
Army lists must be submitted to the event organizers no later than one week before the event (15/03/2014) in a Word.doc or PDF file format with the players name, army you are using, which gaming club you represent (if any)
What to Bring:
• Your Army
• Two printed copies of your army list. Please leave your name on the army list to aid the event organizers.
• A copy of this Rulespack.
• A copy of any Imperial Armour books that you may require.
• You will also need dice, tape measures, templates, rulebooks, any FAQ’s for your army (from the Games Workshop
and Forgeworld websites), Codices and Imperial Armour books. If you don’t bring the rules for it you cannot use it.
• Objective markers. These can be the GW Objective dice, counters or markers of your own creation.
• A single infantry figure easily discernible from the rest of your force.

How the Tournament will work:
The tournament is run on a swiss-style system; where the first round sees players paired off randomly, and then winners play winners for the second round and so on. The player who scores the most points after the three rounds is the winner. If players are paired together in a subsequent round, we will try our best to change you.
For those players that come down from a gaming club as a group, we will try to avoid pairing you with another member of your gaming group.
All games have a time limit of two and a half hours. Within this time frame you need to have set-up and deployed, played a game and determined a result. When two hours have passed, a thirty minute reminder will be called for all remaining games. If it becomes apparent that you cannot fit in a further full game turn then do not start a new one if you are within the last thirty minutes.
The standard missions from the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook WILL NOT be used. Each round will be Scenario based. Before each round the Scenario packs will be handed out and read through as a group. This will give you a chance to raise any questions.
Fortifications and Terrain:
Players should ignore the rules in the main rulebook about setting up the table. Use the tables as they are set up by the tournament organisers. If the terrain has been obviously moved or badly placed please call over a judge to change it for you.
Mysterious terrain is to be played as per the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook.

Scoring: Mission Victory Points
During the tournament, the following scoring format will be used:
5pts for a win, 3 for a draw, 1 for defeat.
The points gained from the results of the games are called Tournament Points (TP’s). Bonus TP’s will be awarded for the margin of victory.
• Massacre! - If you wipe out your opponent you will be awarded one additional Tournament Point.
• Margin of Victory:
• 0 - 4 VP’s - 1 TP
• 5 - 9 VP’s - 2 TP’s
• 10 - 14 VP’s - 3TP’s
• 15+ VP’s – 4 TP’s
Should your opponent concede, then you will gain the maximum VP’s available in that particular mission regardless of whether you had completed them (all Secondary objectives, points for objectives and Kill points). If you concede then any VP’s gained during the round will be forfeited.
A running total of Victory Points (VP’s) from each round is also used in the final rankings as a tie-breaker.
The Victory Point conditions will be in the Scenario packs available before each round
At the end of each round, players are required to fill in the results slip and hand in to the tournament organisers. Once the results are recorded the players retain the results card for subsequent rounds. These will be handed again out during the following round.

Scoring: Hobby Points
There is also a Hobby Scoring system in use for the tournament. An additional Tournament point can be awarded at the judges’ discretion for any of the following:
• All models are fully painted and based.
• Army has a theme Eg White Scars Biker army, Eldar craftworld or genestealer cult
• Written background for the army.
• Notable level of painting and/or converting throughout the army.
• Objective markers that have been created to complement the army.
• Standard of painting or converting for a single figure, vehicle or fortification in the army.

Scoring: Sportsmanship
You will be asked to rate your opponents Sportsmanship in each round with a score of 0-5. The sole fact you won or lost should not influence this score.
• 5 Excellent game –Your opponent is clearly there just for fun. There have been no problems and the game was fun all round
• 4 Great game – Your opponent is definatly there to win but even so, There was no ill feeling throughout the game. It was more fun than what I expect from a standard tournament game. I would be happy to play him again.
• 3 Good game - This was a standard tournament game. My opponent was here to win but did not use any tournament tactics or bend the rules to his advantage. There were no major conflicts and what minor troubles we had were resolved quickly.
• 2 Gamey game - This was clearly a game at a tournament. Although there were no real disputes it was clear we were at a tournament. My opponent used a number of gamey tactics including running his units into a corner to avoid a bigger defeat and bending the rules for deployment.
• 1 Stressful game - A gamey game but one that was played with ill feeling. Although it was played within the rules. There was plenty of arguments and my opponent was not graceful in defeat or honourable in victory. This should not be chosen just because you lost!
• 0 Never Again!!! – Says it all – worse than above.
Add up the total of your Sportsmanship points and you will be allocated TP’s based on this total
12-15 -3TP
8-12 – 2TP
4-7 – 1TP
0-3- 0TP

Prizes: lovingly provided by the guys from worhamma
• Overall Winner - The player who scores the highest combined points total from the Tournament points of the 3 games played, Hobby points and Tournament Points from your Sportsmanship score. The greatest VP’s scored will be used for tie-breaks in the final rankings.
•Second Place. Fairly obviously the player with the second highest combined total of Tournament points hobby points and sportsmanship score
• Best Painted Army - Awarded for the best fully painted and based army.
• Best Sportsman - The player that scores the most Sportsmanship points over the course of the tournament.
• Wooden Spoon – The player that scored the lowest Mission Points total over the 3 games

Organisers Notes
Firstly I must publicly declare that I am a virgin – this is the first tournament I have organised and so please bear with me I am doing my best.
I have organised this tournament as a way to have fun. Your games should be competitive and hard but more than anything I want you to have fun.

I have just a couple of things to note

Proxies – Yes, you can field proxies, but please try and keep them to a minimum. Also please make your opponent aware of any you have in your army. Yes, a marine with a flamer can be played as a marine with a plasma gun, but no your Storm raven CANNOT count as a fire raptor. Please try and keep things as WYSIWYG as you can.

Lords of War and D Weapons – I am allowing both of the new expansions to be played because I am buying into the GW ethos that they will shake up the tournament scene and give us things to play against that we haven’t seen before. That said the idea of this tournament is to have fun and by fielding a Titan that can fire 4 SD Large blasts per turn you are probably going to spoil 3 peoples day. Please try and restrict yourself to only one D weapon if you can. If you can’t and you want to play like that then fine, I’m not going to tell you not to, but I will frown at you and make sure that you get the smallest piece of pie at lunch time.
All said and done I just want everyone to have a good day. Don’t be shy with feedback because I will probably be doing this again at some point and would like to try and make the experience better.
See you there
