Batallions and Battleforces Slipping Away

Trendlines from several months back continue:

More Batallions and Battleforce boxes slipping away.

Tyranids are the latest with a $170 Swarm box and the previous Battleforce box discontinued.
Dark Elves box discontinued.
Space Marine box discontinued.

Several more of these for other armies are no longer available for re-order by stockists.

The new trend seems to be much higher priced custom bundles, or combos with a unique character thrown in.

well there´s also more stuff in them and they still do save you quite some money, but they are larger and concurrently more expensive...
whether they´re worth it depends entirely on the units inside - in the case of the Bug one, a lot depends on how good or bad Gargoyles and Fexes/OOE are now, since more gribblies are hardly ever a bad thing...

I'm curious to see what Orkz will get out of a bigger "battleforce", and, when all the armies (or enough) have these sets, will there be Battleforce events that pit these against each other?
