Ork battle waggon question

the codex said "may take a single big gun"(does not include crew)
does this mean I cant use it unless there are troops inside?
if that's the case if I have a grot in the tank would it get bs 3?
or if I had a flash git (6th ed rules update) could I ignore cover saves?

tank doesn't need crew to fire gun.
Tank's BS is ALWAYS 2.

However I'm not 100% about aegis defense lines etc, think then you may get ignore cover for the gitfindas if they use them.

The Battlewagon's crew (aka, the driver/ gunners) are the ones shooting the gun. (hence the BS2 on the vehicle stats) Usually when taking a "Big Gun" you would get Gretchin crew (Grotz are BS3), and would loose one to the Zzap Gun's roll. However, the vehicle always fires the guns (not passengers) and therefore would be BS2 and if you take a Zzap gun, would not loose people to dice rolls. No matter what gun you take, unless specified like "Grot Gunners" from FW's books, any gun you purchase for the Battlewagon will fire at the Vehicle's BS and suffer from the vehicle damage table.

I don't see why the Flash Gitz wouldn't be allowed to use the Gitfinda's ability with an Aegis. The Gitfinda is a separate piece of wargear aside from the Snazzgun as listed on page 103 in Codex: Orks.

ok so why does not bother saying " does not include crew?"
this is the bit that's throwing me off, does it just mean if I fire this gun I cant fire one of the others? even if a have full battlewagon of passengers?

In My Opinion, that bit "does not include crew" is to reference that your not getting Grotz when you buy the Big Gun for the Battlewagon. Thus, giving you a vehicle with two different BS values. If it did not say that, then someone could argue that the gun fires at BS 3 because a Big Gun is operated by Grotz, instead of Orkz.
