Oh I so like this thread. I really like including the female marine /wife in your army. If I did that it might buy me another trip to the store. Heck I let her build and paint a marine (pink of course) and it bought me a convention.

I used the new Citadel Blood for the Blood god paint. Probably sound like a salesmen, but Ive been using it like nonstop to make my chainswords look used.

I didn't know anything about 40k lore or the game when I started a few months back so I literally just painted the men I saw on the front of the box. Its why I ended up painting Ultras. Went for uniformity with all my guys due to mostly not wanting to repaint things lol.

Today my Ultras did battle against Hive Fleet Diluvium. The player was nice enough to let me build a small fortress to hold up against his swarm.

The Ultramarines trapped on this godforsaken plague planet didn't know where the Knight Macragge came from but after the long slog in the rain they didn't care. The deamons who constantly harried them had finally been chased off when the Knight showed up to slay the Great Unclean one. The knight did not speak except in cryptic passages from the Codex Astartes. The back of the Knights shield was carved with great passages from the holy tomb. The third company had found its morale refreshed and will to fight strengthened as every Astartes knew the face carved into the stone of the Knight. It was the blessed Primarchs face Roboute Gulliman. The knights shield was a slab of solid marble from the Temple of Corrections. The relief upon it from the Invasion of Ultramar, An astartes warrior battling a Tyranid. The image bringing courage to any Ultramarine who sees it.
