Hi all,

In reading through the background info on the Black Legion in the codex release, it talks about how Abaddon had the clones of Horus killed, eradicated
the Warmaster's remains, and changed the legion's name from the Son's of Horus - thinking that Horus was weak for not defeating the Emperor during
the Horus Heresy.

That being the case, it looks like the Eye of Horus is still used as a symbol on Black Legion gear. Is that correct, and if so, why would the symbol of the
former Warmaster still be on the Black Legion gear if Abaddon was trying to purge any trace of Horus?

Thanks.

A valid question. I guess it's just an overlooked continuity error.

The Eye of Horus began as the Eye of Terra, an honorific bestowed upon the Emperor's favoured son, in the same way the Emperor's Children were the only legion to sport the Aquila.

Could be they've retained it as a sort of taunt , or maybe it's to remind them of their failure.

While Abaddon might blame Horus for his failure and spit on his memory, the majority of the Black Legion still love and worship Horus. Also, because Abaddon took up the mantle of Warmaster of Chaos he had to retain a few of the legacies passed down from Horus -- including the infamous Eye. It's pattern was fit into the new eight-fold star of Chaos, to represent that the Black Legion would worship Chaos Undivided and also clearly display their place as the elite of all other Traitor Legions -- only they bear the Eye of Horus.

Says where? It was the Black Legion that carried Horus' body back to the Eye of Terror and set up his body into a tomb similar to Guilliman's on Macragge. I've always seen Black Legion and other traitors talk about the "Dream of Horus" (uniting all of Mankind under the aegis of Chaos) and not the "Dream of Abaddon."

Also, shouldn't this discussion be in Background & Lore?
