And they shall know no fear...

I have decided recently to assemble the entire 1st company of blood angels. They will be assembled as follows

1 Company Captain
30 terminators
30 Assault terminators
20 vanguard veterans
20 Sternguard veterans

I will not be doing any transports for them at present just the troops.

So below is a few pictures of the currently completed troops so introducing the Angels of Death squads Alpha and Beta.

Good start, got to love first company models. Just a few types, maybe add a few highlights or a wash on the red to make it pop, maybe add a bit more colour to the helmets, too much red looks rather bland. On the white for the cloak start with a grey base and then slowly move up to a white it will look better than just plain white.

There's one old school metal terminator at the front on a small base mainly because I didn't have any 40mm ones in my bits box that's will be rectified as soon as I get the chance

I finally have a company captain I'm happy with the core model is the old emperors champion model with the assault on black reach back pack and standard. I've also removed the clenched fist and replaced it with an infernus pistol

What technique are you using on your white?

Dave Fothergill
02-24-2014, 08:33 AM
A skull white spray undercoat followed by a wash of skull white to smooth the undercoat out and catch any bits I missed followed by a very diluted "light shade" quick shade with a touch of chestnut ink in it washed over it. Do you like it ?

Psychosplodge
02-24-2014, 08:45 AM
I like how smooth it looks, not sure I like the visible brown from the chestnut ink.

Dave Fothergill
02-24-2014, 08:49 AM
Once it's got Matt varnish on it it darkens down and loses a lot of the brown colour and looks darker and "broody" ill do that plus highlights over the next couple of days and post the results for you to see

Psychosplodge

Aye. I think I'll still stick to the white over grey(when I eventually pick up a brush again). But you can't deny yours looks good.

Very nice.
Is it actually a darker red or a change in lighting?

It's the same red but I've used different painting techniques on him. I realised my painting had gotten lazy since I started painting again so I did him properly with a base coat shading and highlights rather than using quick shade and calling him done. Looking at my previous work I'm very happy with how he's turned out.
