Hello all! Through the month of November my friends and I spent a couple weekends working on my new Realm of Battle game board and it has been completed! I decided to go with an arctic theme to complement my home and native land, and thankfully the snow dropped over the last week and the weather now complements my board. Which is nice. So without further ado:

I am finally free from the tyranny of the Warmahordes players and MTG players clogging up all the tables at my FLGS on Saturdays. Finally I can game from home!

If you've got any questions on the overall project or specifics on how I did anything, please feel free to ask. Next up is to get more terrain.

Thanks for having a look!

I dig it!

Now let's see some Space Wolves vs Mymeara Eldar on there for +1000 internet points.

But on a terrain related note, what's your arctic terrain plan? Some snow covered bastions and such would look amazing.

I wish I had options like that around here, we had to struggle to scrape together 6 people for a small tournament tomorrow (The board's inaugural debut!). I'll put up some more pictures with my opponents on it though. (You'll have to settle for Dark Angels with a sand themed base. :/ )

HOWEVER! I do indeed plan to go with a arctic themed terrain! I do want to put down at least 1 or 2 bastions, and I am still early on enough that I can take that Aegis Line and frost it up. I am eyeing that Imperial Sector box too. Oh heck, I'm eyeing literally everything in the 40k scenery section on the website, but my wallet keeps slapping me telling me to: "Snap out of it." But during my last excursion to Warhammer World I grabbed a few pictures for idea's. So fear not, the board will be populated with terrain that suits the theme. I'll obviously be posting pics when I have something to update!

Top notch work mate. Really like the variation in the tone of the snow. Have you painted the sides of the boards? If not, a matt white might help hide the join lines slightly (always an issue on modular boards) but other than that my only suggestion is more scatter terrain to populate it, perhaps combining shorter ruins with banked snow, making a hill/ruin hybrid piece where the massive snow fall has drifted against the building?

Both of those are quite good ideas actually! I definitely like the idea of a hill piece with a bit of building sticking out to mimic blizzard conditions. Definitely will think of that, but I am still a terrain novice so might take a little trial and error. And I was thinking about painting the sides of the board flat black, like I've seen done before, but white make a lot more sense.

I brought a camera with me to a small tournament my FLGS was putting up and I found out that the battery had died during my parents trip only after I'd got there. So tonight I think the plan is to go over to my friends house and continue to try and develop a fair way to do a fair 3-person deployment layout. (Hint: It's gonna be weird.) As I'm on good terms with my LGS owner, I can borrow his terrain so I think I'll definitely be able to snap a few more pics!
