Hi,

wanted to get the ideas from people that have tried this, people who have considered it, people who have come up against it etc....

C'tan with writhing world scape to make difficult terrain dangerous, and a load of royal courtier transmog crypteks to make open ground dangerous with their tremorstave quake ability....

I am likely to be up against fast marines on bikes and in land speeders, so I have a ton of scarabs and wraiths to bring them down, will it work well ?

tweaks etc welcome.

cheers

I did that once in Planetstrike as a Defender, where you can turn that tactic up to eleven - not only will your opponent deepstrike most of his stuff, but Necrons also have a Stratagem (or whatever they are called) that basically does what Orikan also does: make everything difficult for a turn. Oh that was a bloody fun game - with lots of narrative, including Imothek beating Helbrecht again and taking his other hand, and us discovering that my mate's BT Venerable Dreadnought was actually a character from our Deathwatch group, a Templar who keeps ketting hit by everything and then some - as happened to said Dread; lost an Arm and a Leg (sighing "not again...").

It's a decent tactic, but unfortunately it isn't as good as it used to be because failed Dangerous Terrain tests now allow armour saves to be taken. You also have to watch out if the Space Marine player is using White Scars, as his Bikers - but not the Land Speeders - will ignore the Dangerous Terrain tests altogether.

Depending on what the Land Speeders are armed with and how many there are, it should work out ok.

I'm going up against Ravenwing, and the speeders usu have heavy bolters and typhoon launchers... so we'll see !!

Actually.... Subtle changes, drop one warrior, one wraith, one cryptek, and swap c'tan from thunderbolt to sentient singularity, and add an aegis defense line with icarus las cannon.

c'tan can sit on and operate the cannon from cover, and effectively gains the singularity for free, biggest loss is one wraith, but the 3 remaining will be for countering assaults on my line.
