Alright.
So currently I'm into 40k, and people at our gaming area play 40k and fantasy.
I've been looking into it and the only army that fully interests me is lizardmen.

If any one could give me some tips and suggestions as to which units and such would be great.
Thank you.

Righty dokey.

First up? Just get playing. Although they share many common rules (like how you do the important bit of hurting stuff) Warhammer and 40k play quite differently.

See if people in your area are willing to run you a sort of intro game. Doesn't really matter who plays what, as it's just to show you how the various unit types work, and indeed, work best.

From there? Saurus. You literally cannot go wrong with Saurus! Thankfully, the old Skink Horde of Skirmishy doom is more or less extinct. Saurus are your highly capable backbone. Loads of attacks, T4 (which is a high score in Warhammer), and decent armour levels to boot. Plus, thanks to Cold Blooded (Ld tests roll three dice, remove the highest scoring one) they're pretty dependable in combat.

Other than that...what's caught your eye in the book, and indeed, about Lizardmen in general?

Another recruit to the will of the Old Ones! Welcome, my friend. It is better to serve the Authors of Creation willingly, rather than to serve ignorantly like the others or oppose their plans and damn yourself.

Mystery is right - there really aren't a lot of losers in the Lizardmen book (maybe one). There's some great stuff, some situational stuff, some corner-case stuff, and that one aforementioned loser.

Anyway, here are my favorites:

• Slann are fun and powerful wizards, great if you want to dominate the magic phase.
• Skink priests aren't powerful, but with Lore of Beasts they make great cheap support wizards. The way that Slann can arc spells through them into the enemy makes for some fun and unexpected angles of attack.
• I don't own one yet, but I'm looking forward to buying a saurus scar-vet/oldblood on a carnosaur at the end of the month. Awesome model, somewhat situational rules, but a lot of fun.
• Kroxigors are huge and badass.
• Salamander hunting packs unleash fiery doom on your opponents and everything they love.
• Cold one riders are some of the most awesome cavalry in the game. They also make great escorts for a similarly equipped scar-vet or oldblood.
