Hi,
My regular opponents are Imperial Guard and Space Marines and they both love their tanks. Each battle there are a multitude of them driving around. :)
So for my next battle I'm re-designing my army list and I need your advice.
The tactic I want to use is to deep strike a Tank hunting unit near some tanks and blow them up, hopefully living long enough to blow up 2.
What unit would be more usefull for this ? (I probably should say I am the attacker in next battle and need to advance to capture objectives)
Raptors: 5 Raptors with power sword, 2 meltaguns, Mark of Slaanesh and VotLW
or
Obliterators: 2 Oblits with VotLW
note about Marks: I know about the different marks but please focus on the units the way I wrote them down. I'm still redesigning my list so perhaps I will find some points for the Tzeentch or Nurgle marks for the oblits.

Chosen and Havoc squads will be your best anti-tank choices.

The best deep striking units that do tank hunting duties for Chaos Marines are 'Termicide' units, hands-down. Take three of them with one power/chain fist and three combi-meltas, no mark necessary. Bam done, tiny footprint, cheap and thus less likely to mishap and you don't really care if they die. Three combi-meltas that drop in melta range should blow up any tank you point them at. Take three of these units, combined with either Autocannon Havoc squads or Nurgle Obliterators and anti-tank should be no problem whatsoever.
Also, Heldrakes make for surprisingly decent anti-tank with the vector strike. If you use a Daemon Prince, run one with the Black Mace and watch it tear apart any vehicle in the game (among other things).
Chosen and Havoc squads will be your best anti-tank choices.
Chosen are too expensive and few in number to be a great anti-tank unit, they still die just as easily as a regular Chaos Marine. They also don't have Drop Pods ala Sternguard Veterans. Unless of course you use Huron or Ahriman to Infiltrate them, but even then they still aren't the best option.
Havocs are good with autocannons and that is about it really. However, if you have the points, Nurgle Obliterators are better for versatility and durability.

Only thing I am worried about is the very short range of the meltas. That's why I was leaning towards the Obliterators with their twin-linked meltaguns (when within 6") or their multi-melta (when within 12"). But the 3-man Terminator squad is a very good idea. Costs about the same as my 2 options. I will consider it.

Really ??? I have one included in my list but with the S7 vector strike I wasn't going to use him against tanks.

Vector Strike always hits side armor. Makes a difference for a lot of tanks. Also there are no cover saves. It is not amazing but it can get lucky.

Vector strike from a Hellturky is massively effective against most vehicles and if you get the flight path right you can even target the rear armour after with the S6 flamer ( or a bunch of S8 shots if so inclined)
Havok units are great hunters of tanks - a squad in a rhino armed to the teeth with plasmaguns can easily get up table fast enough to lay down some hell , that or arm them with heavy weapons and run them like devastators.
Oblits are brilliant hunters of tanks also. obviously you could risk a deep strike or bad reserve rolls to get close but once up there they will do the job.
Chosen and to a lesser extent termies are great too - but id keep them for dispatching infantry mostly. also, never arm chosen with plasma or heavy weapons ( they are best when shooting and assaulting) leave H.weapons and plasma for havoks.
theres lots of other things such as twin maulerfiends and demon princes with wings... but the oblits and havoks and turkys are the best in my opinion for a fast kill

Agreed against IG Artillery pieces (side armour 10) but certainly not versus all kinds of Leman Russes (side armour 12)

Abbaddon + oblits = preferred enemy shooting and dead anything. Its an expensive but nasty combo.

I thought Abaddon only gives Preferred Enemy Space Marines? Don't have my Codex nearby. But for the points, I'd vote Nurgle Oblits, though Tzeentchies are good too. So much more versatile. But the small cheapo Termicide squad is also a good option, and can handle about anything Guard have, aside from a blob unit. The small peckish deepstriking units from various FOC slots, like a min Raptor unit with 2 melta guns and a combi-melta champ too, can be very frustrating and excellent for skewing board control (and getting Linebreaker).
Pinch them with many claws!

Abaddon only gives Preferred Enemy of Space Marines (all variants).

I can tell you my tank hunters are fairly across the board for my chaos army. I use Oblits because they are decently priced for what they do. but with their new weapon options they have lost something for dependability. Auto cannon havocs simply because they lay down so much firepower that in a single volley your almost always guranteed to do damage. And my favorite AC/LC predators. they aren't to expensive and for me they're dependable i know what to expect from them and when they exceed my expectations its an added bonus. i know for my mechanized World Eaters list they are my AT

Thanks guys for all the info...
I'm going to use (in different battles) units of Raptors with double melta, termicide units and oblits. And then see if it works for me and what combination.
I'm hopefull about blowing up some tanks :-)
