I wish I had a iPad to get the new dex, but I was hoping someone that owns it could throw me a bone to satisfy the fluff bunny in me.

Deathwatch, is it possible to make an army centered around Sternguard vets using the new Inquisition dex?

From what it sounds like, I can get and Ordo Xeno Inquisitor, use him as my hq for Imperial guard, grab some cheap troops and storm troopers, a Space Marine primary detachment, Librarian, and some sternguard.

Is it possible? Can it be true? Dang it G.W., why do you have to make these things ebook exclusives!!!!

Thank you for your time and patience :D

You don't need an iPad. If you've got a laptop/computer you can get the ebook (not iBook) version from black library, which is a little cheaper than the iBook version but without all the fancy bells ad whistles. In answer to your question i'm hearing that Inqustion can be taken as it's own detachment with 1-2 HQ and 0-3 Elites. Separate from allied and primary detachments, with the Inquisitor being able to be the warlord even if he is not in the primary detachment. So yes you could do what you mentioned, though you would need to take some troop choices in that space marine detachment as sternguard are not troops. So i'm not sure how you would represent tacitcals as deathwatch and/or what you would counts-as scouts if you used them instead.

its ****ing crap, do not buy it.

you get the inquistors and their henchmen from the grey knights codex. that is really all.

Ans they even cut and paste badly and left out some rules.

Sorry, I too had high hopes for this dex, but sometimes we don't get what we wanted. Inquisitors come as either a primary, or special FOC detachment, 1-2 HQ and 0-3 elites. In a primary, elites ( henchmen) count as scoring, otherwise they are a extra add on detachment (primary, allied + INQ) So to make a Deathwatch (stern guard) force, you would still need to take pedro and some troops to make it legal. This dex looks super rushed and copy/ pasted from the grey knights/adeptus sororitas codex. Only new things are the adjusted inquisitor costs, and the warlord traits along with the THREE new pieces of wargear ( at least one is worth looking at). They couldn't even copy/paste right as there are several rules that are missing( coteaz cyber raven thingy, etc)
On the plus side though, many armies can now benefit from coteaz and/or servo skulls without paying the full allied price tag. My condolences to the imperium.
edit: forgot to mention they added valkyries and land raiders to their dedicated transport arsenal. I guess that has potential...

Well, this information is rather disappointing, I was hoping to finally field an Ordo Xeno Deathwatch army, I guess the waiting will continue! Thanks for the info guys!

Couldn't agree more, so disappointed.....essentially provided you know the points spec for a Land Raider or a Valkyrie the only new stuff in this dex are the warlord traits and the relics....even 95% of the fluff is recycled stuff that's been online for years....absolute joke....massively feel like my expectation has been exploited here....I certainly wouldn't buy it knowing what's in it....

really poor effort, could have done a better copy and paste job myself.....

What's not in it:

No Stormtroopers as troops (other than loading a henchman out with copy cat equipment)
No Deathwatch or any other specialist units
No access to Elite Assassins outside of codex GK

You could theoretically get 3 Inquisitors onto the field with codex GK, but why bother......there's none of the unparalleled access to equipment as was implied.....complete BS!!!

Got the codex this morning and at 1st I thought it was rubbish but after looking at it there are some nice little combos you can create via the warbands such as taking a priest and 11 crusaders. The priest gives them zealot and has a nifty ability to allow the unit to reroll all their inv or armour saves that Fight by taking a leadership test at the start of EVERY sub fight phase, he has other abilities too but this one is the best in my opinion. Plus inquisitors can be level one psychers with access to Divination, Pyromancy and telekinesis. Now Im quite happy to have a Rad grenade, Divination casting psycher in any of my space marine units :D

I picked it up and it's not bad IMO. They should have added Deathwatch which would have made it a lot better, but oh well.

Well you can get a Deathwatch Apocalypse formation from the Damnos Warzone book so that's as close to an official Deathwatch army you can get now.
