After a rather dramatic loss last night, I've realized the utility of killy characters - if nothing else, they make your opponent think twice before committing his killy characters. Here is my next list - an outgrowth of this realization:
Lords
* Slann Mage-Priest (General) (Level 4 - Lord of Death) w/Channeling Staff, Harmonic Convergence, Soul of Stone
* Saurus Old-Blood w/Glittering Scales, Great Weapon, mounted on a Cold One
Heroes
* Saurus Scar-Veteran w/Enchanted Shield, Gambler's Armor, Sword of Might
* Skink Chief (BSB) w/Dragonhelm, Light Armor, Shield, Spear, mounted on a Stegadon
* Skink Priest (Level 2 - Lore of Beasts) w/Scepter of Stability, Hand Weapon
Core
* 20 Saurus Warriors w/Spears (Full Command)
* 16 Skinks w/Poisoned Attacks, 2 Kroxigors (Full Command)
* 10 Skink Skirmishers
* 10 Skink Skirmishers
Special
* 9 Cold One Riders w/Spears (Full Command)
* 14 Temple Guard (Full Command)
* 5 Chameleon Skinks
Rare
* 2 Salamanders
The oldblood rides aroud with his cold one rider escort, being smashy and terrifying. The skink priest hides among the saurus warriors. The scar vet, I'm not sure of. Maybe he should hang out with the skrox unit and give them some more punch? Or the temple guard? I dunno. As you can see, the heroes are all built for durability. I may not be able to do a lot about striking last, but I can make sure I strike hard.
Anyway, I like a lot of what this list has to offer. Nasty short-ranged shooting from the skinks. The ability to channel a truly horrible number of spells (I mean... 3 dice to channel, +1 to each roll... and that's just the Slann).
What do you think?
