In the FAQ it states that the defense line needs to be placed as a unbroken chain. Does this imply that it can be any version of a straight line.it also references the picture which it forms a circle/square,but it doesn't say that's the only way.. Kind of a grey area no? Any one know of a clarifying rule set? Thanks

I do not think "straight line" means what you think it means.

People were trying to field the ADL with gaps between the segments, apparently. For example: they might've had a short section on the right flank and another on the left; or staggered 'steps' marching up the board. The FAQ was just to put a stop to that - you can still lay it out in any shape/line you want.

Also, I don't think it has to be a "line" just a single unbroken mass of pieces. So, I believe they could be placed in a "T" shape as long as every piece is touching another, in an unbroken T shape.
