Gentlemen, my first Vampire Counts model...

I'm not too fond of the GW necromancer. I prefer to think of my necromancer as a rugged, iconoclastic individualist - kind of like Nagash before he sold out - rather than a degraded and brainwashed slave. So, I'm using a Reaper death priest instead. I like it!

He'll get painted eventually.

More to come, but probably not until January or something.

I will have pics of my second Vampire Counts (kinda) model tomorrow.

See, back when I was thinking of getting into Dark Elves, I bought the Dark Elf black dragon w/lord and witch model really cheap (about half off). Now that I've changed my mind, I don't see any reason to let that stop me. The black dragon looks so poorly taken care of it really isn't hard to zombify him: just drill out the eyes, hack some of the teeth and spines apart (to make it look more grizzled) and deface all the Dark Elf symbols (deface, not remove altogether - it's my dragon now, you pansy elves, and when you look at it I want you to know that I've taken something from you!).

That's my secret, Ace, I'm always hobbying.

That's actually what it is. I don't have a lot of "hobby time." Instead, I grab bits and pieces of time here and there. I also don't sit down to watch TV, have a chat with my wife, whatever without a model in one hand and a brush or a hobby knife in the other.

It helps that I have actual honest-to-goodness ADHD, so I'm actually more comfortable doing two or so things at once.

Interesting choice to use black dragon as zombie dragon. Interested to see your colour choice for the dragon. Didn't you like the original zombie dragon?

Honestly? I have no problem with the original. It's just that I bought a black dragon back when I thought I wanted to do Dark Elves. Zombifying the dragon and buying a vampire lord to ride him was cheaper than getting a whole new kit, and would be a cool and unique addition to my army.

Proof of concept on my color scheme! He's not quite done yet: he needs his eyeball glow, gem effects on the crown jewel, and a final squirt of sealant, but what do you think?
