Most are done by professional propmakers or people who just spend a lot of time on it all. A lot of them do take commissions, it's often a matter of checking people's websites and such. DeviantArt it lousy with such types.

If you have a sewing machine you can do a lot of stuff yourself when it comes to cosplay but if you want something like armour (that looks nice...) or power armour/sci-fir armour type stuff then it gets tricky. As gott says a lot of people are prop makers who take commissions, but it can get quite expensive. Quality can vary too, the really good prop makers can suddenly find themselves getting television or film orders as well which means just when you think you've found a reliable source for such things they are too busy to do stuff for you for ages.><

I did say it was a bizarre thing. Got nothing against the genre, and have enjoyed the odd one, but mostly it just leave me cold.

I can't believe they won't let me say *******. Anyway since I really like it it's the term you use for people without fathers. It's about a wizard called dark snider who wants to conquer the world, but have to fight bad guys who wants to conquer the world. However in the words of Ninja Master Gara " A just man would rule over his people fairly, while an evil man would rule with an iron fist. You , talking to Dark Snider, do nothing. " its pretty funny stuff.

The problem I have is last I checked it leaves off uncompleted which you have to read the manga to continue further. It is at a decent stopping point. Flame of Recca and Berserk ends at WTF spots.

Flame of Recca it can end where it ends, but you have sooooo many sub plots going on that are uncompleted it irritates you. While Beserk it's almost like stopping at Empire Strikes Back, but worst. On top of that when episode 7 comes out it would be like watching episode 7 first and than watching 1-5 without watching 6, that is how Beserk ends. Which is sad due to it being actually good.

Silly/Sh1t Superheroes theme pub crawl costume. I was The Human Match; with all the same powers of the Human Torch, but only once and only for a very short period of time. Unless it's wet. Or windy. My cape also had flames on it.

The costume was good enough to win me a £20 gift voucher for the local FLGS which, with discount for being a member of my local club, meant I just bought an Ironclad Dreadnought for my Marines for £1.57. And all it cost me was my dignity (like I had much of that left anyway...)

I liked how the bane talked in the movie. Other than that I really didn't like that character. I think his lines really didn't fit that character.

Nope, rule 63 is 'For every given male character there is a female version of that character". What you've posted is just a gender swap and I like how it highlights how silly some of the female costumes are, like Huntress'. Pity Power Boy changed his so much because the cleavage window would look ridiculous on him. Though I don't mind PGs costume for PG, suits her personality. Huntress' makes no sense though, she isn't invulnerable so why invite being shot in the belly?

Lol, I struggle with "cosplay" myself. Whilst some of it looks quite cool and even sexy, for me it's a geekery step too far. I'd never encountered it before GD 2008 and quite a few cosplay peeps did a grand job of spending the day in role. Whilst looking like a Commissar can be cool, acting like a dick isn't. I could have happily role played an angry Ogryn that day ;)

I'm genuinely torn on it.

On one hand, I genuinely enjoy dress up, and do so pretty much whenever opportunity presents (got a dressing up box and all. Got me LARP kit, Pinhead costume and Pirate stuff).

On the other hand....I dunno. It just kind of leaves me cold, for reasons I really can't explain. Perhaps it a perceived snobbery of it. A sort of 'call yourself a fan, ha! I dress as my favourite character'. Even though I've never really hung out with cosplayers.

And my well documented distaste for calling dress up 'cosplay' likely factors in as well. I have a strong, equally inexplicable aversion to nerds in the west adopting Japanese terminologies. Just seems pretentious, Hipster like. Baseless opinion is baseless, but there it is!

I think we're getting into the weeds of what is "cosplay" and what isn't at this point. While I doubt there's much consensus as to precisely at what point "cosplay" turns into "merely wearing a costume," "cosplay" as a concept is distinct from dress-up in that it presupposes you roleplay the character you're dressed as, and distinct from roleplaying in that it presupposes you look like the character you're acting as.

For me, the roleplaying is the weird part of it. Coming at cosplay from a roleplaying background, I have a hard time figuring out what "in-character" means when you divorce the character from his or her original context. I love the costuming aspect of it. In particular, I love the awesomeness of self-construction, and I love the fact that cosplay's de facto standard is that the "costume" is more than just your clothes. Again, I know there is room for variation at the boundaries, but I love that "cosplay" includes not just clothing but hair, makeup, and carriage. It's multidisciplinary in a kickass way, in my opinion.

I've cosplayed at conventions on occasion, but wouldn't describe myself as a cosplayer.
The SO takes a dozen outfits to a 3 day convention, wears them all, and has a wardrobe full at home. and I would imagine would describe herself as a cosplayer...

It's just that when animation took off in Japan the expressiveness allowed by the large eyes of the style was more what they wanted (Japanese culture being less well known for smiling for instance), so they emphasised the traits that were important to them while western animation decided it was only for kids so simplified it's style (The Powerpuff girls are a simplification of Betty Boop really), but Japanese animators used it to tell adult stories, and there are a large, large number of different art styles out there:

My mate says I should watch it, I'm just not the greatest anime fan.

AoT is actually fairly unique in a lot of ways. There's zero fanservice, for one. Most animes tend to throw in at least a little. It does suffer from a bit of inserting long internal monologues into fast paced actions scenes, though. So it depends on what you do and don't like in anime.

I will say this, though, if you are a fan of creep horror, like Alien, then this is one ****ing creepy, terrifying show.

I love Anime. In my opinion a lot of anime is on the same level of what typival movies are. The thing I like about it is is not limited in vision since they can draw it instead of using cgi and stunt doubles. Although most anime typically go beyonf what a real person can do.

The only realistic Anime I ever seen is flight of the fire flies, which is believable. Other than that not to many realistic looking anime out there.

To date Black Lagoon and Angel Cop are listed in my top favorites. Both have very strong female characters which dominates the sceen. They dress sexy, but never shown in the nude or have sex. Neither as far as I know have even a real relationship. They both care for someone, but not in a relationship.

I'll take Remy for example, Angel Cop is probably a better example since she is cold hearted, but more of a role model. Remy how ever have a lot of issues. First let me list her issues.

Remy aka " Two Hands"

She was raped by New York police officers when she was young.
Parents died when she was young
Homeless on the streets of New York
Loves killing to the point of being called a mad dog. She really don't have qualms about killing, waste of time begging her not to kill you.
Drinks and Smokes a lot, although the nun at the church does too. How often you see church staff in a gun fight.
Swears a lot, thought Angel Cop swore a lot. Best Angel Cop line " Eat **** and die!". Revy beats her out. Heck they even made a video about how many times they used just the word ****, not counting the other words.
She obviously have issues with people who are not harden killers like her self, like when Roc joined the group.
Have no problems stealing from the dead.
No qualms about slavery, or selling others to be slaves
Half American and Half Chinese
Have to have her way and will even shoot someone if she doesn't get it, meaning people she is even close with.

Besides all that she can kill really good, is very simple, and cuts through people's bs. However Roc seems to slowly rub off on her which makes her start being more humaine.

Also you have to love Roc who comes out like an average person thrown in Revy's world of crime and piracy. He stands his ground against people he really shouldn't stand his ground against. Surprisingly he lives through a lot of encounters simply do to he is a main character. Anyone else pull the stunats he did against Bellolika and Revy would be killed.

Also the general cast is interesting in Black Lagoon.

Dutch: Black American in charge of the company and pilot of the boat. Negotiations is his speciality and great decision maker. He also good with guns, they never show how good, but you get the feeling that Revy is much better.

Blonde Florida Native: He is the communications and computer guy. Oh only white man in the company. Just realized he really doesn't have a big role. He is important, but not good with guns.

Roc: Japanese who becomes really good at negotiations. He is capable of handling himself to the point he is as dangerous as the others. However he never carries a gun. I think Bellolika hands him a gun, but he doesn't kill the person. Not that he didn't want him dead. Simply he didn't want to resort to using a gun. He is a good planner as well and see things that others don't. He is likeable, but you can at a point start to dislike him.

Revy: Half American/ Chinese: she basically kills people. Don't ask her to do anything else or she more than likely would mess it up. She also encourages drinking. Not a good influence on the group. She also simplifies what is going on and like I said before cuts the bs.

Bellolika: Russian Mafia and spent a tour in Afghanistan. Her and the Mafia are ex Soviet military. She is really cool. She is very to the point and you really want to be on her good side. In reality she basically runs Roranapour. Don't piss her off. She also have half her body covered in 3rd degree burns from the war. Oh she is evil, but she is fair and economic. If you are worthless than that is not a good thing.

Chan: Chinese triad, runs the city and usually makes deals with Bellolika. He is very skilled and Revy looks up to him. His men die in droves. As a note people are typically shocked if you manage to kill Bellolika's men.

Head Nun: head of the rip off church. She is pretty dangerous and highly intelligent. It is implied that the church may be a front for something else. You know for sure one member is part of the front, but you never know if the whole church is involved. However the church is involved in many things. All I can say watch and find out.

White Nun with shades: American who is Revy's only friend??? Anyway playing poker, drinking, and smoking in the church with Revy seems like their favorite past time. The head nun seems to not go for it, yet they do it anyway.

Everyone else like the Columbians and Roberta are not what make up the main bunch. The above you see pretty often which the first 4 atleast every episode and Bellolika almost apearing in every episode.

The apeal of the show is the situations for the most part. If you like Angel Cop and Coboy Bebop than you should like this show. Unlike the other two you can see Black Lagoon being much more realistic. However it has it's moments like a maid surviving beeing slammed on a connex container and can fight like nothing happened, or a guy who can cut bullets in half with a sword. Although they do keep the sillyness like those events down to a minimum. Which means normal people and technology that at times do extraordinary things. Think Die Hard 4 for example.

It was depressing, but I felt some of the situation could had been avoided. I have to watch it again, but I remember really hating the aunt.

Long story short. Even if you are abused and hate the person who staying with. If you can't support yourself than tolerate them until you can sustain yourself.

Also pride can kill you and your love ones.
