You could always just play it as a Space Marines army though.I'd go with this. A lot of the models can be used with the vanilla 'dex, and Forgeworld's next modern-40k release is going to include plenty of "Relic" units to allow the use of Heresy vehicles in modern-40k.

Make sure to ask the tournament organizers first; you never know, they may let you use a Heresy-era list, albeit with some modifications (no Lord of War).
As Thebasementgamer points out, you can also use it as a Space Marine army. You can find useful parallels between certain weaponry and regular 40K guns; volkite weapons make good stand-ins for plasma guns, while rotor cannons could be passed off as heavy bolters.
