Hey ho!, I'm planning of crafting my own little corner of the Grim darkness of the 41st Mellenium, a small 4',4'. Going for a ruined monastery being infected by the perils of the Warp aesthetic!

after browsing some of the Kit's I'm rather partial to GW's product in particular for much of the main construct, nothing compares in comparison in my own opinion,.

Just wondering if you lovely people had any recommendations on any other companies who produce excellent terrain I should investigate first before going with much iof the citadel range.

You might want to look into the Gothic City kits by Pegasus Hobbies

I second the suggestion for the Pegasus gothic kits. Here is a cathedral made from several of those for example:
