Anyone use a Chaos Thunderhawk, or regular Thunderhawk at all? I'm debating whether or not to use my awesome giant resin wings to make a Daemonic Thunderhawk, or I can just spend that time making a Chaos Warhound.

The Thunderhawk is a 9 HP superheavy flyer and can get a single Turbo laser up top (Strength D large blast), plus some bombs and lascannons for anti-air. It can transport 30 models too, including jumpers or bikers, assault vehicle.

Of course the Warhound can have 2 double-barreled turbo lasers for 4 Strength D large blasts, but no Transport, and of course can be hit by other D blasts.....and I can't put my awesome wings on it to make it fly :)

Warhound has to start on the board or wait to come in until 'after a break', but superheavy flyers can come in Turn 1 from Reserves, which I view as a big bonus in survivability.

If you were playing an Apocalypse game, which would you take, assuming nearly equivalent points?

If I could? I would go for the Thunderhawk. People are now using more weapons with Skyfire and Interceptor, but few people have Firestorm Redoubts, which would be the biggest threat I can think of. But honestly, with the transport capacity, the Turbo Laser, speed and everything else, you can deal a hellish amount of damage while really messing with troops on the flank by dropping 30 troops on the field.

Also, if you're going to put really flapping wings on it, that would look beyond cool.

that it would, that it would - then again, imagine a mutated Warhound with wings! rules benefit or not... hell, I'd give you some kind of bonus mobility for the thing just because it's so awesome (and we're talking Apoc anyways where Aweseome is all that really counts)...

I like things that transport things. I think that the tactical flexibility that it grants usually trumps raw power. However, that's a matter of personal preference and playstyle - YMMV.

Well, that settles it, Thunderhawk it is! This will be very good 3D modeling practice too. Pictures will be posted when complete, probably next year sometime.....
