Games Workshop Digital Editions (https://www.facebook.com/GamesWorkshopDigitalEditions) on Facebook in answer to a question about the Blood Angels Codex:
I can't give an exact date at the moment, but Blood Angels will be out later this month in iBooks, epub and mobi formats.

The Blood Angels book will only include Errata changes and things like hull points and unit types from the new edition. It won't have any new items, as that would make the print book out-of-date before its time. Sisters of battle don't have book at all the the moment, so we have a good deal more freedom to put cool new stuff in the codex.

So we're going to be seeing a lot more Ipads and such, in lieu of paper-back books, at gaming tables everywhere?

Will it be just a digital version of the old codex? A semi-update, like the Sisters?

I have to admit I'm disappointed. This basically means BA won't be getting update for at least 12 months. Spacewolves will be the next marine army then.

Has it been confirmed that the e-book is just going to be a reprint of the current codex (with FAQ updates hopefully)?

Well, Orks currently have the oldest book, but Nids and IG seem to be first. After those 3 books, then Space Wolves are the oldest book, and need updating more than BA- Wolves have no fliers or AA currently.

Wolves don't fly, and don't catch birds. In fact, they get attacked by birds. If GW continues their trend on fluff, I am pretty sure there will be no AA and no Birds for Wolves.

So, as I said Spacewolves will be the next MARINE codex then, I didn't say or mean next codex.

I don't understand why everyone is so disappointed. This is basically a convenience for us. We always knew that we were not likely to see a codex update until 2014 at the earliest. This isn't the Sisters of Battle eCodex. This isn't a lame update that we have any reason to fear will have to last us for the entirety of 6th Edition, or even a particularly large portion of it.
We've got a while to wait for our new codex. In the meantime, we have a convenient single location for all the updates we've had to endure. Big deal.

Because the minorest of tweaks to things like Mephiston/Dante/Death Company and various upgrades would have made the BA dex competitive again.
And those things could have been included in an FAQ/Errata to bring the print book in line with the digital

No, they couldn't. I mean, they could, but we always knew they wouldn't. GW doesn't make those kinds of changes in FAQ, as a policy.

You were told what to expect, and are disapointed that that was exactly what you got.
What were you expecting? Free backrubs?

Which is a rather damning indictment

Hello all,

I would say it's depends on how much you currently reference the codex. I'm still new and constantly looking things up. I bought the iBook version for my iPad and it works great. It's basically a port of the hardcopy (which I also have) and well done. Other than one hotlink that isn't working (and I assume will be patched), I have no complaints. Navigation is quick by going thru the chapter thumbnails at the bottom of the screen and there's links where you can jump from the unit description straight to it's army list entry.
If you want an e-version of the codex (for whatever specific reason) it's worth it IMO. If you're looking for something new, then no.
