Forge World Tank question

A friend of mine wants to buy some Forgeworld Tanks but has a question about them the site doesn't answer... So I thought to try it here :)

For a lot of the Tanks you have the option to buy the whole kit or the upgrade kit.

But what exactly is in the upgrade kit ?? Is it an entire turret (so you can swap turrets between games if you have a single hull) or do you need a plastic turret (and thus entire tank) to build it ?

He wants to have 2 or 3 hulls and several turrets to choose from.

Can anyone shed a light on this matter ?

What actually is included in each upgrade kit varies from model to model.

The upgrade kits include everything that is above and beyond the standard GW kit. In some cases it is merely a turret/gun, in other cases it is the upper hull, turret and weapons.

Which models was your friend thinking of?

Has your friend considered contacting FW those guys are really useful.

it usually means only those parts in resin that are used to make the variant. typically, if it uses the base of the leman or chimeara turret, you would have to provide that from the plastic kit and thus not be able to build the stock turret without having bought an extra of the turret base itself

It's basically about whether you get the GW plastics with it. It's often works out cheaper to do so :)

The "Vanquisher Gryphonne IV", "Executioner" or "Vanquisher Stygies VIII" for example

Some time ago you used to be able to choose either the upgrade resins pack or the complete kit with everything you need to build a complete model for almost all the kits they made. Forgeworld has changed that on a lot of the tanks now and it does say upgrade or complete. The advice has already been given so I would certainly say tell your friend to get in touch with FW and ask very specific questions about the kits just so theres no misunderstanding.

Leman Russ upgrade kits always contain the turret of the tank kit you are buying and not the entire GW Leman Russ plastic kit + the FW special turret.
