My group has really rallied around Kill Team recently. The fast paced games are really fun and we can roll through a bunch in one night, even while beering.
Quick re-cap: Kill team is 200 points with 0-1 elites, 0-2 troops, 0-1 fast attack; on a 2x2 table with each model acting independantly. No reserves, no Infiltrate, and usually no survivors.
My pride of the mean streets. Space Marine bike squad, Veteran Sergeant w/claw, Grav gunner, Multi-melta attack bike, and three more bikers.
First up, Eldar. 20x guardians w/shuriken cannon. This game took ten minutes, it was a blood bath. I had the first turn and sallied forth. The Multi-melta slagged the weapons platform and the rest tore into the Eldar with bolters. Eight guardians dropped before anything happened. Then it was their turn. Twelve guardians who fleet forward can put out a withering hail of fire. Two bikers were bladstormed to death, my improved jinking was to no avail. Another, fell in close combat. Hoping to turn the tides, I charged in and blew away another five. But one of my bikers was beaten to the punch and failed his armor save to Eldar knife fighting. At the top of my opponents turn, he took his morale check for being below half strength and failed it, lucky for me. A narrow victory for the Space Marines as we'd savaged the Eldar as much as they'd savaged us.
Next, Chaos Marines. In offering true glory to Slaanesh, five noise marines with a fully kitted out champion parked in a corner. They had first turn but I found some lovely LOS blocking terrain to hide behind. This game was a foregone conclusion before it started. I out ranged and out gunned em' and just sat back and plinked em to death. Salvo weapons are neat but seriously limit one's mobility. We got to turn five before I finally managed to finish him off, the champion had rolled +1 armor save and so took a bit to finally shift.
Last, Eldar again. Abandoning the wall of guardians ploy from before, my friend opted for five dire avengers in a wave serpent. This one also went kind of quick. The table was just too small for normal Eldar shenanigans and I was able to assault right off the bat. Once the Avengers were on the field it was down to mop-up. By turn four the Eldar had perished. A quick additional note, we decided that vehicles in general were a bad idea for Kill Team, as any tom, dick, or autocannon can get armor bane and eat any vehicle in the Elites through Fast Attack categories.
So good fun all around with plenty of Black velvets had by all (Strongbow layered with Murphy's Stout. "Smooth and clean, like gasoline".)
