I thought of something just a little while ago. Everyone's all excited about the inclusion of grav weapons in the new SM Codex, but FW have had Graviton weapons for ages.

I don't have any of the FW books; Do they use the same rules as C:SM? If not, what are their rules?

For those playing along at home, FW's graviton weapons include:
Contemptor Claw with Graviton Gun

And the quite similar Legion Breacher Siege Squad

And then the graviton cannon on rapier chassis:

Gee, I wasn't expecting those pics to be quite so big.

So, anyone with the relevant FW books, what are the rules for graviton weapons?

completely different, strength test to wound, AP4 blast, or large blast on the cannon, and haywire.

Cool, thanks. I wonder if FW will release FAQs to update to the "current" rules.

I don't know, will be interesting to see what Horus Heresy Book Two comes out with.

Gravaton weapons are not the same as grav weapons - in the space marine codex it says grav guns are based on the heresy technology

Rogue-Trader-era fluff would disagree with you. They were definitely two different names for the same thing -- the same as bolter and bolt gun.

debatable really Bad, the codex says "their design is based upon the graviton weaponry many legions employed during the Heresy... Only techmarines who show the greatest promise are entrusted with the sacred binary psalms detailing the assembly and maintenance of such weapons"

personally I would say they are the same weapons.

the claw has a plasma blaster :/

im sitting in the camp of same weapons, just different workings.......
the imperium use backward superstition and tradition in their tech..... the change in losing blast and haywire could be a simple wire crossed.

A variant and more savage close combat weapon than the standard fist. Contains parts to arm the Contemptor with either a powerful Graviton Gun or a compact and deadly Plasma Blaster. Model designed by Will Hayes.

I think the object at the right is the graviton gun.

According to Rogue Trader era fluff, Marines aren't genetically modified killing machines, and you can get in and out of Dreadnoughts :p

But yeah. Graviton and Grav weapons are kin, but not the same family.

No, looking at it again, I think the graviton gun is attached to the arm, and they show the alternative plasma bits next to it.

This is correct. Each weapon has the barrell/emitter, and the power source/ammo hopper. In that photo, claw is already fitted with the Graviton Gun.

I dunno. I think we should wait and see if FW FAQs it ...
