Right chaps here we go. I wanted some combi weapons, and didn't want to pay the bitz barons through the nose. So, I had a rummage in me own bitz box and a think. There are tons of conversions out there, but a lot go into 'cut a slot there' and 'move a barrel here'.

My drop Pod Wolf guard need their wepons now, and I can't be arsed, so, here was my Hannibal-esque plan:

STEP 1:

The bitz. old friends from 2Ed. The bolter, and the plasma pistol:

STEP 2: Slice the pistol grip from the PP, and the bottom of the barrel. And the ammo flask. Take the whole thing level with where the pistol grip was.

Step 3: The Bolter. Take off the foresight and the gubbins on the back (its OK astartes armour contains allsorts of auto senses and targeting, you don't need iron sights)

Step 4: Glue together with Poly cement. The barrel of the PP just slightly overlaps the front end, the rear sits flush with the back of the bolter:

Et voila. I think it bears more than a passing resemblance to this:

(the hammer is from an old Knights of the White Wolf sprue I keep for wolfy bitz.)

Next up will be combi flamers, I hope this is of use if you can't be bothered with being gouged by the bitz chaps or doing an 18-step modelling kamikaze in 28mm!

Neeto! A cool use of bits, though it does irk me that GW persists in strapping axillary weapons to the top of the Space Marines primary weapon, rather than slotting it away sensibly under the barrel.

How it should be :)

The AICW does have a top mounted grenade launcher, but then it could be argued that, in this case, the launcher is the primary weapon.

EuanS roger that, (good gun pics btw) I suppose needs must - as there is not sufficient room under the forestock of a bolter to mount something that would have a fuel tank (melta, flamer) or flask (plasma). What I really don't like for GW ones though, is where the main weapons seems like a special with a mini boltgun on - it is counter intuitive that the smaller weapon is the one with multiple shots.

Hey ho.
