Blood Angels Army [Den of Imagination Log]

We've just started a BA army here in the studio. It is a commission work for a gentelman from US. It will be a standard codex scheme with some freehands here and there. We want to make a Landraider a centerpiece of the army. Maybe Paulina will paint freehands all over it!

Unfortunately no painted miniatures yet. Those need a lot of Green Stuff and cleaning time. Hope to show you soon some paint on them.

Thank you, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was more than a little nuts for the troops to disembark right in front of the gunbarrels.

On-topic, love the winged vets! And, is the hair on the Assault sarge greenstuff, or repurposed from another model? It reminds me of some of the Daemonette manes.

I personally like the slung back look of sponsons on the rear slot. I like to think that the pilots would have the good sense not to shoot while the passengers are disembarking.

Hmmm. Knowing that tehy usually disembark from the front I think that the sponsons location does not matter.

We are getting to the finish line with those red guys. We need final touches here and there... and freehands. Yes Paulina will work on them soon. Can't wait to see what she can do!

That's actually Paulinas work. We wil have to form soem more tutorial but there are some on our website already.

I like the sponsons up front. I mean, sure, the pilots aren't going to shoot, but it's still an inconvenient place to put the things. Look how the lascannons block the doors!

For me, the issue is twofold. First, when the MKIII Land Raider kit was first released, the box art was correct. When the 'Eavy Metal team member was given the project to assemble the kit, he was just given the sprues and told to assemble it... Unfortunately he assembled it wrong and sent them on to be photographed. The Photos on the Box all show the incorrectly assembled Land Raider despite the Box Art showing the correct position...

Second issue, is that GW never corrected the problem because they didn't detect the mistake until the model kit had already been circulated... And now, instead of ignoring the problem they themselves perpetuate the fallacy not just in photos of assembled Land Raiders, but now even in the artwork... It's sad really...

The other problem with the Sponsons in back is also a Range issue... Since you are supposed to measure Range and LOS from the sponson housing, you are losing 2-3 inches of range if the weapon is in the rear like that...

As far as charging goes... That's what the assault Ramp is for... ;)

Please don't take my comments wrong or an attack against your work. You do an amazing job. Just the whole Land Raider Sponson thing has been a long running pet peeve of mine...

I think the magnet jump packs are the coolest feature. The modeling and painting (especially the freehand) is fantastic too. I'm big into utility, so having those options really is an attractive feature. I just need to stop being so lazy and get magnets for my mini's!
