Absolutely fantastic. Lovely job!

Love the chipped armour effect (is that white + the powder you mentioned in the thread above)?

Were there any tricks you relied on to apply the powders?

Thanks very much for sharing.

First of all, BIG THANKS to BoLS for featuring the Tesseract Vault on the site. :D

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Many have asked how I paint my Necrons.

will also be doing a video tutorial on how to paint my Necrons.

For now here is a breakdown of the methods I used to paint a complete Necron Warrior.

I always, always start with painting the base first. Do not be afraid if the color of the paint smears on to the model legs. It can be touched up.
Prime the model with a black undercoat (Chaos Black)

Base

-Apply a coat of Bubonic Brown (XV 88)
-Drybrush Blazing Orange (Wild Rider Red) on to the base
-A further drybrush of Bronzed Flesh (Bestigor Fleshtone)
-And finally a drybrush of Bronzed Flesh (Bestigor Fleshtone) plus Ceramite White (Skull White)
-Paint the rims of the base to desired color, I would recommend Chaos Black (Abaddon Black)
-Add a tuff of Highland Tuff from Army Painter. (or buy a pack of Morheim Turf from Games Workshop, that should work too.)

White Armour

-An airbrush of Tamiya Matt White (Alternately you can re-spray the model with GW Skull White) The trick is too apply the white surface over a black undercoat, therefore the black can be played around as shadows.
-A wash of Agrax Earthshade (Devlan Mud)
-Now create a mix of Celestra Grey (Light Grey) And Ceramite White (Skull White). Paint over the washed model with this mixture. I never paint pure white as there are no way to highlight something brighter than white.
-Edge highlight the Necron armor with Ceramite White (Skull White)
-Dip your detail brush with water and mix it with Forgeworld Weathering Powder (Aged Rust). If you have a pigment powder that is the color of orange brown from MIG then it is suitable too. Randomly draw chipped patterns and rust streaks on the white armor. (Do note that chipping usually happens around the edge of a surface so plan the weathering accordingly. Rust streaks usually happens near crevices and holes. (Use my Necrons as a reference to plan your weathering.)

Metallics

-Apply a coat of Boltgun Metal (Ironbreaker) on the desired metallic areas.
-Add a wash of Devlan Mud (Agrax Earthshade)
-Apply Forgeworld Weathering Powder (Aged Rust) on to metallic areas.
-Using a drybrush brush, apply Mithril Silver (Runefang Steel) sparingly, the trick is to drybrush in such a dry manner that only tiny streaks are visible. Therefore creating the illusion of small metal chips.

Brass

-Apply a coat of Runelord Brass. (Note Runelord Brass does not really go well with black, but applied on a white surface creates a really neat and clean look.)
-Add a watered down wash of Hawk Turquoise. (Temple Guard Blue)
-When the wash is dry, drybrush Runelord Brass again to soften up the Turquoise pools.
-Using a drybrush brush, apply Mithril Silver (Runefang Steel) sparingly, the trick is to drybrush in such a dry manner that only tiny streaks are visible. Therefore creating the illusion of small metal chips.

Finally when the model is fully painted apply a powder pigment of Forgeworld Weathering Powder (Aged Rust) on the feet and knees to create the effect of dust.
Seal the model with Purity Seal.

Now flaunt your newly painted Tomb King in Spess to said hobbyists.

Very nice! I especially love the lens effect on the top spur-- Anytime I have to peer real close and double-check that it isn't actual glass attached to the model is very impressive.

Slight side question about the Barge-- have you (or anyone else) managed it so that you can detach the Necron-in-Chief from the ship and put him on a base for if he ever dismounts/low points game?

Yes the Lord and the handle where his hand is is removable. Then I can place the Tesla Destructor on the vehicle.

Ok, taking a rest from the campy robot sound effects.

I tried playing Necron and Tau as allies and I was impressed by the Tau's firepower. I wanted to buy a Riptide and a Battlesuit Commander. But then I taught, why not create a Necron version of them?

Thus began the conversion of the XV104 Riptide, using Tomb Blades, Annihilation Barge and a Tomb Stalker.
http://imageshack.us/a/img849/6025/xea8.jpg

I admit this conversion was heavily followed by this picture.

Oh and I will be attaching a Tau Commander on to my Riptide. Rules says IC can't attach to single models, but the Riptide can take shield missile drones, which then turns it into a unit therefore making the Riptide joinable and receiving the Commanders buff.

Anyway I started work on a suitable Tau Commander for my Necrons, and I came to a conclusion. Wouldn't it be cool for the Riptide a.k.a the 'Canoptek Destroyer' be commanded by none other than a 'Canoptek Prime'!? BAM! Nailed it. Using the bitz I have from the Necron components used to build the Canoptek Destroyer, I worked on converting a suitable Canoptek Prime. The results, a towering monster of a machine with spider legs. I leave the pictures for your viewing pleasure. I had great fun brainstorming and converting this machine beasts.

Now I need to build two more units for my Tau detachment:

Shielded Missile drones. Can anyone give me some ideas and tips on how to build say... a Canoptek Drone?

20 Kroots. I am loving the Kroots as outflankers. I need to make a suitable 'feral' Necrons, and the only thing I can come up with are Necron Flayed Ones. So imagine, Flayed Ones draped with the flesh of their victims wielding Synaptic Disintegrators?

A group of scarabs suspended on a regular flying base would make an OK drone substitute
The torsos with the praetorian jump pack things
Wraith bodies if you happen to have the parts
Half a necron warrior on an actual tau drone like a miniature destroyer, maybe with the deathmark heads from your kroot so they look more canoptek.

Harder to think of any necron weapons that resemble missile pods though, maybe groups of the little power orbs you get on wraiths etc. or Tau missile pods with a suitable necron skin

I really like the way these are painted, the interplay between the white with red and the metal areas with shades of blue, red and silver is a brilliant colour scheme, and very well executed.

Honestly, this is the best colour scheme for Necrons I have ever seen :D

Any possibility we can see your two "Tau" conversion next to some other minis, so we can get an idea of scale?

Also, I remember discussion of the attaching an IC to a Riptide on here a while ago, and I don't think the brains trust came to a conclusion. Have you double-checked the Tau FAQ on the GW website?

Once again, I really like the paintjob, it's an excellent choice. and beautifully executed.

Oh, regarding shielded missile drones, I'm picturing something like an old-fashioned Tomb Spyder, but smaller (or a Scarab, but bigger;)).

With some kind of forward-firing weapon system mounted underneath.

As for parts, I have no idea.
