Quiet you, just because there aren't enough marine releases...

Have to say the list doesn't surprise me, the Legion Praetors are easily two of the best Space Marine sculpts GW or FW put out.

I see a lot of 30k stuff around, I just don't see 30k games being played. Everyone is buying this crap to convert their 40k armies up.

Cos 30K at this point is only 4 legions. It requires a large investment to do it properly.

Its the same as the Imp Armour lists. How rarely do you see a Corsair or a Dredd Mob list?

Oddly, I'm working on a 30k Emperor's Children army, AND a Dredd Mob.

Spooky!

i always found the heresy era marine stuff to be more visually appealing personally, so it doesnt surprise me - forge world do a good job. I wish I had the money to do an iron hands force myself, but on the bright side at least I can come on forums like these and see the stuff people come up with :)

I have this love/hate thing going on with HH. The stuff is awesome, and it is one of those things that people have been asking about for years. On the other hand, I can't help but feel that Forge World would be better off making a lot more small conversion kits for GW models, more like their old business model, and use the capital they invest in a massive project like HH and use it set up a distribution chain to actually get models into people's hands more reliably.

I too have a love-hate relationship with the HH and 30k stuff, but for a different reason.

I love the way they look, I love that they're expanding the lore through models and I love that they're opening up visual options for different armies, like how the Iron Armor makes great Death Guard and the Heresy Pattern armor is ideal for making your own Carcharodons and the Maximus armor is fantastic if you want an army that's made up of the best of the best equipment.

But... I wish they paid attention to some of the other armies out there. I'm firmly of the belief that if GW and Forgeworld paid as much attention to any other army as they do to Space Marines, that other army would become just as popular, if not moreso, than the Space Marines. Just how Warhammer Fantasy has a much more even fanbase, I wish Warhammer 40k had a more even fanbase. There's hordes of Orks, Tyranids, Imperial Guard, untold billions.. and supposedly only 1000 Space Marine chapters, yet if you look at how many Space Marine players there are.. well, what can ya do.

Still, I wish they expanded on some of the other non-imperium armies. They said they'd keep the HH stuff separate from normal releases, but I don't know if that's proving to be the case...

I also think that in 40k Space Marines are the epitome of heroes, they are the SuperMan to the Clarke Kent of Imperial Guard, in WFB there isn't such a monochomatic good/bad thing each army is shown in its own positive light to the detraction of the others.

FW produces much sexier models than GW as a whole and the difference in price is becoming negligible at best due to GW constant price hikes. (even if it's wayyy overpriced)

Compare the preators and GW new marine captain. Compare FW flyers and GW basic kits. There is no comparison possible. The most capable miniature designers are within FW subdivision period.
Everybody else are just often producing toys with crappy designs. (yes I'm looking at you centurions and stormravens and stormtalons and mutilators and chaos drake and so on...)

That's a gross simplification based on subjective aesthetics.

I would make a Corsair army if they didn't suck. Hoping they look better when they update it for 6th, but after the Eldar nerfs in the new Apocalypse book, I'm doubtful.

I bought the Praetors when first released and they have made me hate myself for not being a better painter. I have the power armored one done up in my usual chapter colors (Ultra's) for those who want to hate, but I'm debating on the Terminator one...

That has far more to do with how recently something was released. Most products have their biggest sales the month they release. When was the last time a new Forgeworld Eldar model came out? Most of the people who really wanted something have already purchased it.

Of course, I can't seem to find an easy list of each month's new FW releases to compare the top 10 with the last 3-6 months releases.

I would/will get sucked in to 30k when a Space Wolves force comes out. :(
