Hey guys,

Having been working on a space marine project I realized the other day that I have not had a game with my tau since the new codex came out!

Previously I had a 1500pt force so with point reductions I figured 1000pts would be a good place to start.

Any C&C would be extremely welcome.

HQ - Commander - Fusion Blaster, Plasma Rifle, Early Warning Override, Vectored Retro-Thrusters - 140pts

Elites - XV8 Crisis Battlesuits x 3 w/ Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Early Warning Override - 171pts

Troops - Firewarriors x 9 w/ Pulse rifles, Devilfish -161pts

Troops - Firewarriors x 9 w/ Pulse rifles, Devilfish - 161pts

Fast Attack - Pathfinders x 6 w/ Pulse Carbines + Markerlights - 66pts

Heavy Support - Hammerhead Gunship w/ Railgun, Submunitions, Smart Missile System, Blacksun Filer - 131pts

Heavy Support - XV88 Broadsides x 2 w/ Twin-Linked Heavy Railgun, Twin-Linked Smart Missile System, Velocity Tracker - 170pts

Total 1000pts

Alternatively I could drop a devilfish and rejig my commander to run with drone controller and a gun drone squad. I would lose a bit of protection on the fire warriors but a load of bs5 twin-linked str5 shots could pack a lot of offensive power, with the 8pt drone controller becoming a steal.

Cheers!

I use a similar list myself and i works pretty good. This is what i have:

HQ - Shadowsun - 135

Elites - crisis battlesuits 3x - plasma rifle, missile pods - 156

Riptide - Ion accalerator, smart missile system, early warning - 190

Troops - Fire warriors 12x - pulse rifles, shas'ui - 118

Troops - Fire warriors 12x - pulse rifles, shas'ui - 118

Fast attack - Pathfinders 5x - pulse carbines, markerlights - 55

Heavy support - Hammerhead - Railgun, submunitions, smart missiles, blacksun filter, disruption pods - 146

Heavy support - Breadside - twin-linked heavy railrifle, smart missiles, early warning, shield drone - 82

Total - 1000pts

Shadowsun goes with the crisis suits and the get stealth and shrouded (pretty darn good, increases survivability alot!). Riptide is just a beast, you realy want one in your army! I took shas'ui in the fire warrior teams to boost the leadership. Pathfinders are realy a must, only problem is your opponent knows this so expect the to die fast. Disruption pods gives +1 cover save, never leave home without! It lacks troops, but its has worked for me so far.
