Hey guys and gals,

What is your favourite music to hobby too?

lets post some ground rules, try to limit it to around 4 bands/ artists a piece and lets go for music that encompasses the entire hobby instead of just specific armies.

Mine would be,

Metallica
Iron Maiden
Amon Amarth
Mozarts Requim

While something like this would be more Grey Knight "Draigowing" appropriate.

I've taken to listening to the Dead Kennedys as I drive to competitions, particularly the "Fresh fruit for rotting vegetables" and "In God we trust Inc" albums.

The Peter and the Test Tube Babies early albums are also a good option.

Most pleasing iphone related moment....

On the train home, reading 'Fear to Tread'. And at the exact moment that Sanguinius gets his strop on, Iron Maiden's 'Fallen Angel' starts playing.

Perfect!

So perfect, especially when he starts giving the unspecified bad guys for sake of non-spoiler a solid pasting!

Though that scene also reminds me of Bishop Brennan in the Vatican......he DID kick me up the a**e!

I like to hear different kind of music while playing tabletop, but best is epical music with metal background something like:

Summoning (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia5c7EawMtQ)

I too like soundtrack-like music like Globus, Two step from hell, Juno Reactor.

Sometimes it have to be heavy and strong: Boltthrower, Asphyx

My personal favourites include:
Phenomenon (muppets version)
The 1812 overture
The soundtrack to The Rock (movie)
Oh... and Delilah by Tom Jones

I tend to listen to different things for different armies. Industrial would be great while painting Necrons, for example, but not as much when painting some Squats.

I recently painted some test Dark Eldar while listening to Phil Collins, and a lot of my Inquisitorial Henchmen were painted while listening to either Foo Fighters or Asia.

Also, I once painted an entire Tau army only while listening to Philadelphia Flyers games.

A friend of mine, back when he played, would wait until my turn, then put on Enya... because he said that it was "Eldar music" lol

Good idea. I shall try playing "in the navy" by the village people when my mate uses his elysians!

Really depends. I tend to listen to different music when painting then when playing or assembling models.

Painting: Music that is mellow and relaxing.
Sarah Brightman
Clannad
Robert Mirabal

Modeling/Playing:
Power, Folk, Melodic Death or Symphonic Metal. Bands will vary based on moods.

Da Gof Rockerz

Kreator
Iron Maiden
Shadows Fall

and Da Gof Rockerz

When you build armies, write\loot\record songs, make videos around one central theme it has a profound effect on your hobby. I find that the music really ties things together, brings them to life by adding an extra cinematic element to the games. It can also keep you moving when you are grinding away on a massive hobby project.

I usually have the TV on when I paint, and there usually isn't any music at the LGS where I play. However, when ever I hear Tenacious D's "Tribute," I think of IG vs. Daemons.

I'll throw down two steps from hell as well, I'd forgotten how awesome the are.

Can I also suggest,

Myrath (like european folk-metal, but they are from tunisia so its cool and unique (arabic?) sound.)
Ensiferum is really good, if you like two steps, you'll like these guys.
Nightwish
Epica

Mr Mystery

Perfect for Necromunda. And I'm being serious.

Psychosplodge

The only time I saw Ensiferum(I think it was them) the lead singer lost his voice so they did an instrumental set which was quite good.

I listen to a pretty wide selection of music but when painting I tend to go for either a mix of rock & pop with a little metal thrown in, or else movie soundtracks. As for picking 4 favourite artists to listen too, I'd have to go with:

AC/DC
John Williams (esp Superman and Jurassic Park)
Michael Giacchino (John Carter of Mars)
James Horner (Aliens)

Fizzybubela
08-15-2013, 08:59 AM
Amon Amarth
Sabaton
Crystal Eyes
Device
Disturbed

I know it's 5 but I couldn't choose between Device and Disturbed.

Kyban

Hans Zimmer does a lot of really good newer movie soundtracks if you like that kind of music.

When I'm reading 40K books I listen to a mix of the BSG soundtracks and the Doctor Who soundtracks. Works out fairly well.

At the gaming stores, normally people don't like music being played because everyone hates everyone else's music.
