Hi all, ive decided to chart the progress of my Astral Claws chapter on BoLS.
I started this project in January and have been making good progress (by my standards), by doing this I hope to inspire myself to complete the plethora of FW minis that await my attention.

Looks awesome! I am also interested to hear how you are doing the armor, it looks fantastic. Are you using a glazing medium in your washes?

I think the Red Corsairs concept and story is awesome. However, I am opposed to the quantity of red/black armies around.

I am using a Halfords grey plastic primer followed by a base coat of mithril silver (or is it runefang steel?), after picking out detail (blue pads etc) I am dipping them in a 50 50 mix of Army painter light shade and dark shade. The gold is from Foundry paints range. I feel it gives the figures a good sense of dirt and a layer of shine that armour should have.

The shields are from Scibor and attached by green stuff blocks. The bases are from ebay and are resin.
I undercoated the bases black then dry brushed them in mourn mountain snow, dabbed a brown ink wash over parts with a bit of kitchen roll, and then lightly dry brushed again with mourn mountain snow.

Next up, Siege mantlet marine tactical squad:

For my marine squads I am mixing MkV armour with the other marks at 50% in each squad, so this squad is half MKIII and half MKV. There is only one "pure" suit of each mark per squad, this represents the repair work and suit manufacturing ability of the Badab sector after their separation from the Imperium.

Plasma gunner:

I used a volkite caliver as his plasma gun, as I love the look of these guns.

I would hit them with a coat of matt varnish or a silver highlight and a very thin black wash. The only real problem with the dipping is it leaves a very shiny finish.
