***UPDATE***
-Please make sure that you have the 16 race selections completely ordered for #2. Answers missing races will through off race rankings which in turn will throw off totals when we try to draw a correlation of the results.

-For #13: an incomplete miniature is and mini that doesn't fulfill the usual casual tournament standard of at least three painted colors and fully modeled miniatures. Fully modeled means that the model was once complete, even if it currently is missing an arm, gun, or what not but you just haven't gotten around to it. Models may be painted to three colors but being missing sponsons, guns, as part of their assembly are not considered fully modeled.

-The results will include: average age of forum respondents, total years of experience behind respondents, number new (5th edition) players joining us on the forums and responding, favorite race to play, favorite army to start with, favorite armies to play against, usual armies played against, etc.

-A few things we want to test for: (There's more than just these, but more will be posted as correlations continue to develop)
1) That a majority of respondents started with space marines and have migrated away to other races
2) That most GT player respondents consider painting and modeling to be the apex of the hobby.
3) That most respondents consider playing the game to be more important than the hobby aspect of the game.

A few of the guys in my gaming group and I would like to test a couple of hunches about players that we have. 2: This question is silly, because a flat ranking system does not work in 40k's tabletop environment. Balance is not so simple. Instead, I'll put them in tiers:

Top tier: IG, BA, SW
Upper tier: CSM, Sisters (WH are lower tier), 'Nids, BT
Middle Tier: Eldar, CD, TE, SM, Orks
Lower Tier: DE, DA, Necs, DH

Even this is not truly accurate, but it's better than a silly flat out ranking system.

Agreed, but this poll went cold more than three months back so I'm not gonna worry. It more or less served its purpose, or at least the one I had intended for it, although with such few numbers its really insignificant in the first place. The most interesting part was rankings for the races, while truly an imperfect system because it would be rather difficult to interpret all the different parts at work within each players gaming experience, did provide proof to some ideas while challenging others.

Ex: Yes it is true that the majority of people have played space marines, no people aren't fed up with playing them even through they are the most common race in the galaxy. Most people voted Guard to be the most competitive race in the game but they still enjoy gaming against them. Eldar even being an older 4th edition codex is still thought to be among the more competitive armies, and CSM emerged solidly as people's #2 choice in terms of strength despite being neutered compared to its previous state.

Obviously not a perfect example of each, but when you start to see trends develop within our small group you can make guesses that it reflects on what else is out there.
