Hello good people of BoLS,

Some of you may have seen this on Warseer, but i thought I'd share it a bit more widely. I'm currently working on so DE that I've had lurking around for a while. I've finally settled on a colour scheme and so on... then a cunning thought hit me, I should convert a wraithknight to Dark Eldar.

So without further ado I set about making some subtle changes.. these include, swapping out the vanes for aethersails, and forming a wraithklaive from plasticard and the original wraithblade. There are some other bits a pieces I will be adding (I'm toying with adding some gribbly little arms from the Talos), as well as a few chain etc, to hopefully give a nice subtle DE rendition of a wraithknight.

Anyway, here are some pics for your delectation:

So the general DE colour scheme is as follows

Aethersails replacing the vanes (these aren't glued in yet as I will need space to paint in there

Great plan. The sails look great.
I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this project :)

Yep, even for a craftworld loyal one I might have to steal the sails idea for it somewhere

Well there was a near disaster today, when the torso collapsed while i was drilling a small hole to take a trophy spear. In the waist there is a curved piece that forms the socket, apparently i'd not put enough glue on it and it popped inside the body. I had to use a lot of force and remove some already glued bits (and a fair bit of swearing) to get things back on track.

The build is now virtually complete, so undercoatingwill be taking place soon, and colour will be applied :D

Here's some extra pics as well:

Ok so the wraithklaive looks like this:

I think it's suitably DE in its look, and when hooked up with the rest of the figure looks very good:

So the arms, head and sails aren't attached to aid painting, and there's a few chains to hang on, but progress "should" be fairly rapid (he says).

Thanks for looking.

Andy

I saw this and thought it may look good with bladed edges on the kneecaps

Good work on this

I looked at doing blades on the knee caps and it really didn't work. If you look closely though there are blades on the arms.

This bad boy is now undercoated, and painting has started with the head :s

I like the sword. Are you going to do horns or anything on the head?

that's looking great! As others have said, I would have gone with some blades/crests on the head to match the look of the kabalites. I'm also looking at the edge of the shoulder guard that forms a ledge above the arm and think a fan of blades from there would look awesome.

Loving the Klaive :D

Hey chaps thanks for the comments,

I was planning to do something with the head, but nothing really looked right, and seemd to invariably snag the surrounding model. I have however to a blade on the left shoulder so now it's much more of a kabalite wraithknight.

Right best undercoat that shoulder blade :)

Edit: Hmm it seems the perspective of the photo makes the left hand side look bigger than it is... trust me everything is in proportion.

The glossed visor looks great. Sits nicely against the red and silver :)

Well i've started work on the sword, I made an abortive attempt at airbrushig it nmm stylee, but it looked horrendous, so settled with proper metallics. I will be adding gore to it, I've got a great recipe and method for putting it on.

I can feel the menace coming off this thing in waves. Or is that arrogance? Either way it has a great profile. Keep it up!

I had my doubts about using the Wraithknight head un-altered, and was about to chime in about trimming the pointy bit on the back of the head (like a giant Reaver helmet) but the paint proved me totally wrong. Outstanding!

This is so awesome! I've started my own DE wraithknight today... Vargojones, how do you intend to use this in your games? As an Eldar ally? Or was it just a modelling project? I'm just curious as I'm not 100% sure how I'll use mine. Haha :)
