The swag bag, if anyone is wondering, was a draw string bag with a plastic cup, water bottle, pen (all GW branded I assume), three GD buttons and an iron on purity seal patch. Not bad for free souvenirs.

Interesting Forge World stuff buoy where is the GW stuff? Some of us cant afford FW and don't play 30k.

is there really much difference these days? most GW packs are £25-30 a squad or 5 man pack, and vehicles are £30-50 its only a few £ more for FW :)

Well FW have been on a marine high for a while, to GWs credit the GD model is Marco Colombo rather than Yet Another Space Marine (YASM).

I play Eldar/Dark Eldar, but keep building that straw man son! I understand that some people have trouble using logic when it comes to issues they really care about, but you should consider giving it a try.

The BBQ cook out the night before at the North America headquarters was a good time. They didn't require the 'invitiation' and fed everyone that showed up. The highlight for GamesDay for me was when I talked to Jeremy Vetock. I asked him if they were going to do a supplemental codex for The Fallen and he said 'Absolutely'.

He didn't give any dates, but he said that we would be seeing a lot more supplemental codexes coming out.

I keep seeing these new tanks rolling out from FW, yet i can't help but to think they would look a lot better with some more dakka, and extra plates welded on here and there... Oh and you need some Grot Riggers and Ammo Runts to help keep the thing together. Don't forget about a good Red Paint Job either... Always need one of those.:cool:

I know Gamesday is Pretty Much FW-centric, but was there anything mentioned about GW models? I saw the Automata and at first went Yay.... Oh, FW.

I'm Kind of Disappointed in the Apocalypse Releases so far as well. Not to say the Models aren't cool, but I think maybe some of the other armies need some love too. All the terrain has been for Imperials. I also want to find out who said Every army would have access to super heavies - think Allies. That works for everyone except Tyranids. I'm working on a Nid army right now and I was hoping that when that statement was made, that meant some sort of super heavy was coming for them.

I would also like to point out that I bought the last two boxes (1) baneblade (2) Shadowsword, from my local LGS, and I got both for just over 40 dollars more than the ONE new box set. Who actually thinks buying the new set is better since you can only make one hull. Which means you are paying extra for the ability to make one or the other from the same box. Who cares about that except GW who makes more by condensing down two models into one and raising the price to boot.
BTW, My local store sells 20% off everyday.

How do you make a baneblade on the shadowsword chasis? One is built for a turret, one is not.

A bit of bracing, and you can swap out the glacis plate. Other than that, you really don't even need to glue the main body on, it sits on top just fine.

Agreed - I'm not in ForgeWorld stuff at all & would love if someone would post pictures of GW mainline stuff. Or posted comments/info for us non-FW folk.

Question to those that went. How do you think that this years GD stacked up to previous years? Think that you got the same bang for double the cost? Did the limited number of tickets help or hurt. Did they have a "pub" quiz again this year? (think that was one of the funner things that I did last year). Will GW have pictures/coverage of this years on their website sometime BEFORE next years! (I mean really! It takes a year to post pictures?!?) Did anyone goto Graceland?

That's fairly standard these days especially since no one bothers to record the seminars for those of us who can't get there to see what GW are talking about. HOWEVER someone did say they emailed GW about something and were told to expect new things at GD UK in September so that may change.

There wasn't really much for flair to take pictures of. There were no large cannons or walking life size chaos space marines wandering around. I was also surprised that there was not one Apocalypse battle being played. I realize that given the time constraints of a one day show it would have been almost impossible to get a full battle in, but being a new release, I thought they would be supporting it more.

I think given the virtual stampede toward the FW stand at last years UK GD, i think GW are kind of gearing most events toward FW.
Lets face facts, HH is seriously generating interest and sales well above most other systems.

Yeah, the glacis plate is the only problem area, as it plugs into the track assemblies with some pegs. Take those out, and you need to add some bracing. But the main hull assembly can just sit on top. I actually leave mine unglued, as there is plenty of space inside. A bit of cutting, and you could potentially fill the main body with some foam and transport some models inside your giant tank :D

Finally getting around to organizing and cleaning up my Games Day pics (which I didn't get nearly enough of, because I forgot to charge my phone the night before and walked in with only 55% charge). As awesome as the Necron AoP piece was (and it was awesome; it was the first one to really catch my eye), it still wasn't my favorite. This one was:

Whereas the other one was a nice static display piece, this one was basically a huge diorama. My favorite bits: the wounded guardsman on top of the fallen sentinel, fighting off the zombies that pulled it down; the two guardsmen on the balcony trying to hold the doors shut as zombies strain to get past; the Wall of Martyrs in the corner, where there's a zombie getting shot point-blank with a lasgun (and viscera leaving the exit wound). It was fantastically painted, dynamic, and told a story.

Here's the thing that gets me about this one, and I didn't even notice it until looking at my photos that evening; the diamond deckplating effect is painted on. All those tiny precise brushstrokes just to make the flooring look right.

Also, I have to respect anyone who can paint that much yellow and make it look so good.
